Frances Warham Sawle1
Her life as a nurse, mother of twins, and wife to a bush pilot.

Her name was Frances.

In Part 3 of the Sawle Family Film, Linda Redmond introduces her mother Frances Loretta Warham and her parents (Linda's maternal grandparents). Frances met North Sawle when she was just 15. She married North Sawle on April 20, 1938. Reading from France's life story transcript, Linda tells how the two fell in love and how much North meant to Frances. In 1942, they adopted two identical twins named Leslie and Linda. This is the story of their early years.

Made in 6 short parts, The Sawle Family Story is a film that starts with the account of North Sawle's parents (Linda's grandparents) and their pioneering life in frosty Athabasca Landing in the early 1900s. Part 5 coming in March 2011 also tells the account of the horrific crash of the Comet jet airliner in March 1953, in which Linda's father died.

Is your family boring?

I've been monitoring a discussion on the forum of the Association of Personal Historians about the nature of personal histories. Actually it's more of a debate. One side says, "If my family history is interesting to me and my family, it will be interesting to the entire world so I can sell my film and make a lot of money". The other side says, "The story of my family is really only interesting to me and my family. The rest of the world will find it boring."

Having made dozens of video biographies and family history films in the last 13 years, I have heard many fascinating stories that weren't about my family.

A well produced family history film or biography video can make you laugh, cry, teach about life and bless the next generation.

But let's be honest. If you want your film to make $100 million at the box office for one weekend, I'll have to refer you to Steven Spielberg!

At Heirloom Films  our goal is to produce your family history film so that your family and grandkids will love it now, for decades, and forever.

What do you think?  Is your family history interesting or boring?
