Welcome to the month of pink
...or as we know it "Breast Cancer Awareness Month". I wrote my first newsletter protesting "BCAM" in 2009. My intention has always been to make my readers aware that cancer is about the people who are living & coping with it, & not about the corporations that exploit it for profit with the overabundance of pink products. In an  ironic twist, many of the so called "pink products" may actually cause cancer. There are some legitimate companies who donate a decent portion of their sales to good causes...so
Before you purchase anything pink, check out www.thinkbeforeyoupink.org.
We need to make people aware that buying crap is not going to cure cancer. . C'mon, do you really need pink M&M's?

All sarcasm aside, most of my readers are aware that the month does have deep personal significance to me. I have had breast cancer twice in my lifetime & it is on my mind in one way or another all year. I'm all for dedicating a month to raising awareness of the disease & discussing preventative care. But I feel the message is lost amongst all the pink & "save the tatas" paraphernalia. What is needed is awareness about the chemicals we encounter every day that may lead to cancer. With all this, we are still no closer to a cure.

Which brings me to Susan B Komen for the Cure & an item for sale that just makes me cringe. They are now selling "Promise Me" Eau de Toilette, introduced as a citrus, floral bouquet for the skin with a long lasting vapor trail. Breast Cancer Action, however, notes that "Promise Me contains chemicals not listed in the ingredients that are regulated as toxic and hazardous, have not been adequately evaluated for human safety, & have demonstrated negative health effects." As a natural perfumer, this makes me sick!

Product of the MonthFairie Mist

Why Borage?

Claire from Florida sent me an e-mailed yesterday asking about the borage that  juis infused in each bottle of her favorite spray. She is a Fairie Mist  junkie, you see. Well, energetically borage lifts you up & strengthens the heart as well as the adrenals. The old rhyme "Borage for Courage" seems to fit it well. Try some today...
