June 21-Summer Solstice
It's the longest day of the year, celebrated with festivities & bonfires in days past. Fires were thought to warm the heavens and keep the sun shining on the land. As the years passed, so did the customs change. Along with May Day & Halloween, this solstice is one of the three great fairy festivals. The day is enchanted indeed, with the very air we breathe filled with light & magick. Spirits & fairies find themselves dancing & playing amongst the humans. Of course, keep your eye out for those pesky tricksters!!
As the moon rises on solstice, I will thank the fairies that surround me with dishes of candy (chocolate, of course!) & cream set in the flower beds. I will light the cauldron fire for Pele, pour water for Hecate & light incense to honor Kali-Ma. Because somewhere between all the problems & rush of this past winter & spring, it occurred to me that a big THANK-YOU is called for. And, if there's one thing life has taught me it's... ALWAYS SAY THANK YOU
So, my friends, here is your thank you...
