All those April rains finally turned to brilliant sunshine last week. All around me gardens are starting to bloom- nourishing my flower starved soul. Today I saw some gorgeous lilacs. Inhaling deeply, I happily realized that I was experiencing aromatherapy in its purest form. Flowers make us smile. They inspire us to grow. It's all good.
So, today is May Day otherwise known as Beltane. Got any special plans? It's Friday (Venus' Day) so there should be a lot of good lovin' vibes going on!
Beltane is the Gaelic name of the Pagan holiday that is celebrated on May 1st & signifies the first day of summer. The month of May is named after the moon goddess Maia. She is the mother of Hermes (God of magic), Queen of the Flowers & today is her special day. The day ushers in a month of sensuality, playfulness, fertility & rebirth. In magical circles there were maypoles for dancing & bonfires to purify after winters chill & welcome back the sun. Couples linked up & disappeared into the woods to make love & celebrate the renewal of life & sensuality.
