Due to popular request, we have moved the dates for our Tour to India advertised for the dates of October 10-19, 2011 to February 7-19, 2012 as this seems to be a better time for those of you who have expressed interest in joining us. 

Paisley Palace Tours has now contracted with an experienced and reputable Travel & Tour Company - Aegean Tours Inc. based in Laurel, MD.  www.aegeantours.com  Aegean Tours can arrange for your airline tickets at a discounted rate and be of assistance in securing your visa for India. Aegean Tours has arranged all of the logistics of the tour and will be available for assistance the duration of the tour. The itinerary is the same itinerary as previously advertised for October 2011.

Explore India's heritage of hand-woven textiles in the studios and workshops of Delhi and Jaipur. Try your hand at the age-old craft of hand block printing. Let us show you our favorite bazaars and boutiques for delightful shopping.
 
To round out the journey ....experience a ride on an elephant up to the Amber Fort..your photo on a camel...enjoy a drive in an auto rickshaw...stand in awe before the Taj Mahal and explore Jaipur's Albert Museum. 
 
Accommodations have been chosen for their authentic Indian architecture and atmosphere (including gardens with peacocks and green parrots) and western conveniences.

 

Tour Conductors on this trip are Red Persimmon's Katrina Ulrich along with Winnie Kelly Holbrooke. Winnie and Katrina traveled to India in January & February of 2011 to explore, research, experience, test, and make connections for this tour. 
 
Katrina has been going to India for the past 12 years as a volunteer at Blue Mango Trust in South India, bringing groups of volunteers to Blue Mango, as a fair trade import entrepreneur and a textile artist. The tour will benefit from her passion for India, her familiarity with its geography and customs, as well as her expertise in all things textile. 
 
Winnie brings along her energetic enthusiasm, her experience hosting international travelers, and leading groups on humanitarian missions.

DAY 1 - FEB 7/TUES/Departure from USA
You will depart from USA to Delhi, India with your own ticket or you can purchase your ticket through Aegean Tours. Meals, drinks and headsets are free aloft.
 
DAY 2 - FEB 8/WED/DELHI
Arrive in Delhi. Meet and greet and transfer to your hotel Amarya Villa. Overnight in Delhi. 

DAY 3 - FEB 9/THURS/DELHI
After breakfast an Orientation. Depart for Shopping at Greater Kailash. Lunch is at Urban Pind. Auto rickshaw to Pahar Ganj, Old Delhi for shawl shopping. Roof top dinner at Jyoti Mahal in Pahar Ganj. Overnight in Delhi. (B,L,D)

After breakfast depart to Tour of Handprint Factory. Lunch will be provided at Handprint. Visit to Kamayani Vintage Textile Studio. Visit Handprint's retail store The Shop in Connaught Circle. Dinner is at Kwality Restaurant. Overnight in Delhi. (B,L,D)
 
DAY 5 - FEB 11/SAT/DELHI - AGRA/BHARATPUR
After breakfast drive to Agra to visit the Taj Mahal. Lunch is at Oberoi's Bellvue Restaurant. Tour the Fatehpur Sikri. Drive to Bharatpur to hotel The Bagh. Dinner at hotel. Overnight in Bharatpur. (B,L,D)

DAY 7 - FEB 13/MON/JAIPUR
After breakfast depart for Fabric Shopping at Shilpi. Tour Shilpi's block printing workshops. Visit the Kalpana Paper Factory. Lunch is a Niro's Restaurant. After lunch shopping at Nayika and Amrapali Jewels. Overnight in Jaipur. (B,L,D)

 

DAY 8 - FEB 14/TUE/JAIPUR
After breakfast take an Elephant Ride up to Amber Fort. Visit the Anokhi Museum of Hand Block Printing. Experience block printing for yourself. Lunch at Samode Haveli Hotel. Photo op on a camel on the drive home. Dinner at Diggi Palace. Overnight in Jaipur. (B,L,D)

DAY 9 - FEB15/WED/JAIPUR
After breakfast go to shop at Soma, Posy Sammridh Jewelry and Cottons. Lunch at Spice Court. After lunch visit Jaipur's Old City. See the Hawa Mahal. Shop for antique wooden block print blocks. Visit Babu's Silver Mountain Jewelry to buy silver. Dinner at the favorite local Handi Restaurant.Overnight in Jaipur. (B,L,D)

DAY 10 - FEB16/THURS/JAIPUR
After breakfast join in a Cooking Class at Diggi Palace taught by the Maharani Jyotika Singh. Lunch is after class at Diggi Palace. Afternoon drive to visit the Albert Hall Museum. Rest of the day is free at leisure. Dinner at Diggi Palace. Overnight in Jaipur. (B,L,D)

DAY 11 - FEB 17/FRI/JAIPUR-DELHI
After breakfast drive to Delhi. Picnic lunch prepared by Diggi Palace. Transfer to Amarya Villa Hotel. Rest before dinner. Dinner is at the Parikrama Revolving Restaurant. Overnight in Delhi. (B,L,D)

DAY 12 - FEB 18/SAT/DELHI
Morning is free at leisure to pack. Lunch and shopping at Good Earth at Khan Market. Farewell dinner at Amarya Villa Hotel. Late Sat night/early Sun morning flights to USA. (B,L,D)

 

 

DAY 13 - FEB 19/SUN/DELHI - End of our services

*An air-conditioned coach with driver and assistant will be at our service to transport the group throughout the tour. 
*We chose different restaurants to dine in for lunch and dinner throughout the trip to be able to taste the best foods from India.
