Greetings!
Micala Gallery is proud to announce the opening of COMPASS! a group exhibition featuring Alan Disparte, Peter Foucault, Scott Kiernan, Julie Lazarus, Paris Mancini, David Ruth, Tobias Tovera, Taylor Vogland-Dreiling and Anne Yalon, on Friday, January 18, at 5 pm.
"Compass!" is an exhibition referencing new directions in artwork by emerging artists at Micala Gallery. Featured
artists include recent MFA graduates from the San Francisco Art
Institute, offering a collection of work that reference landscape and
the effect of place. "Compass!" is a body of classically rendered
drawings, photographs, and paintings, and modern glass, mixed media and
video sculpture. Additionally, the sculptural work of David Ruth, an established and respected San Francisco Bay Area artist, is included for his recent travel and specific to the Antarctic
landscape. Geraldine Lozano's installation will
be presented in Micaela Gallery 2. Lozano is a newly minted MFA
graduate of the San Francisco Art Institute. Her work is based in the
mediums of photography, video and installation. Lozano's work
addresses issues of displacement and personal documentary. Because
Lozano left her birthplace in Peru in her early adolescence, her work
focuses on the temporality and fragility of place.
