9th Annual Hair Massacure
Friday, February 11, 2011 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. West Edmonton Mall Ice Palace (8882 - 170 Street)

People are going PINK for Kids!

When Hair Massacure started in 2003, 48 people shaved their heads and raised $37,000. The event has grown by leaps and pinks, and in 2010, more than 1,450 people, 24 schools and 420 volunteers participated and raised more than $1 million!

Thanks to the passion of participants and volunteers, Hair Massacure has raised more than $4.6 million to help children affected by cancer. Funds raised from this event are split between Make-A-Wish® Northern Alberta and the Stollery Children’s Hospital’s Pediatric Oncology, with a percentage to Ronald McDonald House.

There are many ways to get involved: pink your hair, shave your head, donate your hair, volunteer and fundraise!

For more information, to register, or to volunteer, please visit us online at www.hairmassacure.com or call Nicki at 780-431-4621.

Drop in anytime between 9am and 10 pm on February 11 and enjoy the fun with entertainment from special guests, music groups, goodies, and a whole lot of pink hair.

What is SMART RISK?

Smart Risk means • Recognizing a risk beforehand • Preparing for an activity • Choosing to make good decisions

Smart Risk strategies include . . .

Look First

  • Before beginning an activity, make a plan to understand and manage your risks…look first!

Wear the Gear

  • Protective gear (i.e., helmets, seat belts) can reduce the risk of suffering an injury. Whatever your activity…wear the gear!

Get Trained

  • Skills take time to develop - however, they also help you assess and manage your risks. Be prepared…get trained!

Buckle Up

  • No matter how old you are, the distance you are going, or what type of vehicle you are traveling in…buckle up!

You can teach your children and teens ways to reduce injury risks while doing the activities they enjoy.

You can make choices that reduce injury risks for yourself and those you love.

INJURIES ARE NOT ACCIDENTS… THEY ARE PREDICTABLE AND PREVENTABLE!

Proper supervision, safe environments, hazard awareness, and participating in age-appropriate activities all help reduce the risk of injuries to children and teens.
