Environmental Resource Associates

a CAMT success story

  ERA Logo

"To truly change the culture of a business, everyone must practice what they preach, walk the talk, casting a positive shadow over the business. With CAMT's Lean and TWI, I've seen that change. The foundation for change is there, and we get better each passing month." David Kilhefner, Director of Operations

Environmental Resource Associates (ERA) is a proficiency testing provider in Golden that ensures water supply and treatment companies around the world accurately test for pollution. Producing thousands of samples with varying concentrations of pollutants and contaminants, each one requiring separate verification and validation, makes for a challenging manufacturing environment.

Since 2007, ERA has partnered with CAMT to incorporate Lean methods into workplace processes, focusing on 5S, visual management and value stream mapping. This year, ERA has trained supervisors and managers in Training Within Industry (TWI) to ensure consistency in management and training practices.

TWI has been the key to sustaining a Lean focus for the entire organization, providing a systematic framework to approach problems in the workplace. Implementing Lean and TWI methods has led ERA to $600,000 in increased sales and $125,000 in cost savings.

Mike Fitts, Business Development Manager

Briefly describe your company's products and services.

Aleph Objects, Inc. develops and manufactures the AO- 100 3D printer, the fastest and one of the highest quality desktop printers on the market today.

What makes your company unique?

First, we are a very rare free/libre hardware development company. We provide the complete source for our printers with every printer sold. Second, we have developed our printer with particular focus on rapid prototyping and low-volume production uses. We also use our own printers to make all of the plastic parts for our printers. Yes....machines making machines!

How does your company innovate?

Aleph Objects, Inc. innovates by sharing and having technologies shared by the "open-source" development community. We do not believe in using any proprietary materials or parts for our printer.
