| The Small Business Conundrum | | |
CAMT's G. 'Ravi' Ravishankar was invited to the recent MIT Manufacturing Summit 2011 to speak about "Innovation in Manufacturing: The Small Business Conundrum." The Summit focused on the essential components and growth opportunities for manufacturing and innovation to fuel U.S. economic growth.
Information gathered at the conference will inform the Advanced Manufacturing Partnership, a steering committee providing policy recommendations to the President.
Small businesses, in particular, feel they must innovate new products to grow, but can be handicapped by little access to capital, lack of robust in-house expertise, and commercialization barriers. Although product innovation is important for the U.S. economy, discussions at the Summit highlighted the need for greater innovation within manufacturing processes, not solely for products themselves.

DeTect Inc designs and manufacturers avian, security surveillance, and wind profiler radars. DeTect's Longmont, CO facility focuses on wind profiler radars. Wind profilers are a vertical radar that measures wind speed and direction up to and exceeding 60,000 ft in the atmosphere.

DeTect manufacturers and designs wind profilers using advanced radar techniques that have hereto been unknown in the industry, allowing us to provider higher quality data for the end user. Please describe an innovative company, product, service, or process.
DeTect's RAPTOR(TM) line of radar wind profilers provide higher and more consistent data, allowing our end users to make better forecasts.
