Innovative CO Manufacturer: Lifeloc

Last month, we asked companies to respond to the CAMT Highlighting Innovation in Manufacturing questionnaire in order to promote Colorado's unique manufacturers. We've received some interesting responses -- below is the first of many to come.

Lifeloc Technologies, Wheat Ridge, CO

Barry Knott, President

Lifeloc is a Colorado developer and manufacturer of professional breath alcohol testing devices (breathalyzers) for use by state law enforcement, corrections, clinics, schools and in workplace drug and alcohol testing.

What makes your company unique?

Leadership in product innovation, quality and exceptional customer care. We offer turnkey breath alcohol testing solutions including instruments, training and a complete line of supplies.

How does your company innovate?

Lifeloc drives innovation through effectively anticipating customer needs, involving all stakeholders early in the development process, rapid-cycle product iteration, testing and commercialization. Then we do it all over again.

Please describe an innovative company, product, service, or process.

Lifeloc recently launched the first professional Bluetooth enabled Breath Alcohol testing solution for use in workplace alcohol testing programs. Bluetooth interoperability between the breathalyzer, the keyboard and the printer unchains operators from their desks and permits true testing mobility...enhanc[ing] user workflow, productivity and ease of use.

What is a recent highlight of your company's success?

Annual revenue from the sales of new products has increased from less than 5% of sales per year to over 20% of sales in less than two years.

What separates your company from the competition?

Product innovation and exceptional customer support. Getting it right the first time.

How is your company advancing your industry?

Lifeloc's mission is to: Protect people and make the world safer from alcohol and drug abuse by delivering superior products, services, and value to our customers. We deliver next generation products that are more affordable and ever easier to use.
