| NASA Chief Technologist Dr. Braun Visits CO | | |
Meets with CAMT, 30+ companies and key officials
On Monday, April 25, CAMT hosted Dr. Robert Braun, NASA's Chief Technologist. Dr. Braun is responsible for direct management of NASA's Space Technology programs, of which SBIR grants are part, and for coordination of all technology investments across the agency.
The morning included meetings with Lt. Governor Joe Garcia, Senate President Brandon Shaffer and NREL Director Dan Arvizu to discuss how to further the impact of the CAMT/NASA collaboration and key opportunities for the strong aerospace and clean energy clusters of Colorado.
The day culminated in a Technology Innovation Exchange attended by over 30 leading Colorado technology companies. Also attending were state government, university and economic development representatives.
Attendees were particularly curious to learn about NASA's future focus on technologies that cut across applications, and have possibilities for commercialization, rather than traditional mission-focused interests. To clarify NASA areas of interest, he encouraged companies to look at NASA's Technology Roadmaps. Dr. Braun pointed out that Colorado has a strong position, hitting the sweet spot between two national interests, aerospace and clean energy.

A White House initiative to celebrate, inspire, and accelerate high-growth entrepreneurship
Entrepreneurs intent on growing their businesses create the lion's share of new jobs, in every part of the country and in every industry. They pave the way for new industries, and their innovations will help the US continue its economic strength into the future.
President Obama has called on both the federal government and the private sector to dramatically increase the prevalence and success of entrepreneurs across the country.
The Obama Administration is rolling out a set of entrepreneur-focused policy initiatives in five areas: unlocking access to capital, connecting mentors, reducing barriers, accelerating innovation, and unleashing market opportunities.
How to Get Involved:
1. Give Feedback. Ideas are being collected on how to reduce federal barriers to entrepreneurship. If you have an opinion on federal processes and regulations that should be modified, eliminated, or strengthened, please click here to join the discussion.
2. Join the Startup America Partnership. Leaders in the private sector have gathered a suite of resources to help start up companies smartly grow their organizations, expanding from dozens of employees to hundreds and someday thousands. |
