CAMT & NASA Sign Space Act Agreement

CAMT TAP program projected to create 10,000 jobs

NASA Helps Build Colorado Economy (201012130013HQ)

On December 13, Governor Bill Ritter, Jr presided over the signing of the Space Act Agreement between CAMT and NASA that will result in economic growth and high-paying jobs for Colorado.

The Space Act Agreement is designed to help Colorado companies utilize NASA technologies for product development and bring those new products to market quickly and competitively.

This agreement signifies the launch of CAMT's Technology Acceleration Program (TAP). TAP aims to shorten the time between development and production of new clean energy and aerospace technologies by spearheading a Regional Innovation Cluster to help Colorado companies leverage existing resources, share services and technologies, engage business leaders, and strengthen Colorado's clean energy and aerospace workforce.

Clean Tech Trade Mission to Europe
Elaine Thorndike Visits Europe with EDA and ITA
CAMT CEO Elaine Thorndike recently joined the Economic Development Administration (EDA) and the International Trade Administration (ITA) on a joint clean tech trade and investment mission to France and Belgium.

The mission supported President Obama's National Export Initiative, which aims to help U.S. firms sell their goods and services abroad with a goal of doubling U.S. exports over the next five years in support of several million American jobs. But it also provided an opportunity to witness how European countries are moving clean tech economic goals forward through university, government, and private industry partnerships.

"This mission was not just about companies selling their products at a trade show, but regional communities from the US and Europe discussing opportunities for partnership in research, exports, and investment," said Ms. Thorndike.

Why France and Belgium? France is the United States' eighth largest trading partner with total trade of $60.7 billion in 2009. The United States is the top destination for French investments worldwide at $189 billion. Additionally, French investments helped support 604,000 U.S. jobs in 2008.

Likewise, U.S. green exports to Belgium grew by more than 50 percent since 2002, surpassing $500 million in 2009. Total Belgian investment in the U.S. in 2009 was $39 billion, supporting 129,000 jobs in 2008.
