Greetings!


Here we are in 2012! It's amazing what happens in a year. In 2011, we celebrated our first year at the studio, climbed Mt. Katahdin, enjoyed many soccer games, trained hundreds of clients, and made it through another holiday!

Last year, I set some goals and have achieved several of them, but not all of them. I'm still working on my BHAG - a Master Level Pilates Program, called Passing the Torch. This is definitely a BHAG (Big Hairy Audacious Goal). I also had a theme of "Gratitude for 2011." Having this intention was HUGE for me,  as I am incredibly blessed and thankful for my family, friends, coworkers and clients. I truly can't imagine my life without you!

This year I will continue to focus on relationships. I recently asked a client why she comes to Active and she simply told me it was because of our relationship. She said that when she comes in she knows that we will take care of "her". She's not just another body coming to a class. We know her needs and wants, and we individualize the workout for her and others in class. It made me think even more about how important it is to hold on to relationships that we care about. As we progress through 2012, let's remember to value our relationships that are important to us and move on from the ones that are not.

Speaking of relationships.......we want to remind you that you, our client, are our best source of advertising! When you refer a friend or even talk to someone about where you workout, we want to thank you for that which is why we offer a free session to you if your friend signs up with us. It is the greatest compliment you can give us!

We also appreciate your feedback. We are planning on revising and building our group training schedule in the New Year, so let us know if there is something that you are interested in that we are not offering or that you'd like to see us offer! Thank you so much for your loyalty and dedication to your workouts at Active. We are truly grateful for you and wish you the best in 2012!

Super 8 is a recognition/incentive program for clients who use our facility 8 or more times/month. Studies show people who visit a fitness center at least 8 times a month are more likely to continue with their workout program, thus achieve greater results and feel more satisfied. The Super 8 club offers recognition to clients by offering prizes (such as stability balls, Escape gift certificates, apparel and more) and exclusive deals and events throughout the year.

28 Day Challenge Update

 Starting January 7, a select group of dedicated clients will undergo the intense 28 Day Post-Holiday Challenge. Each participant receives workout DVDs; Team Beachbody Club meal plans; 30 Day Shakeology supply; private,online daily mentoring with Active trainers, and free participation in our TRX/Body Weight Training Class.

Starting January 9 through the end of the month, we are inviting ALL clients to join in on the Monday TRX/Body Weight Training Class at 7pm for $15. Call to let us know you are coming!

chili spiced chicken soup Chili-Spiced Chicken Soup 
Yield: 8 servings

Ingredients:

Spice Blend:
2 1/2 teaspoons chili powder
2 teaspoons ground cumin
1 1/2 teaspoons ground coriander
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon cracked black pepper
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt

Client of the Month
 Meet Heidi Teague, M.D. 
As a physician, Heidi Teague understands the importance of maintaining a consistent exercise routine which is why she has been a client with us for over eight years.

When asked why she chooses to come to Active over larger fitness centers, her answer was to the point - "I have been happy at Active and have had good results so I see no reason to try any other personal fitness centers." In fact, it's Active's individualized attention combined with personal and flexible classes that makes it so attractive to Teague, who works the nightshift at AAMC.

"My favorite thing to do is to come in and work out after a stressful night at the hospital," shares Teague. It's also her least favorite thing to do, but she knows she must and values the emotional boost she gets after her workout with Deb.

With a full-time career and two teenage sons, Heidi along with her husband, Bryan, who also works out here, knows that Active is just what the doctor ordered!
Changes for 2012
 Please remember: 
1. Sign-in for ALL classes. In order for us to provide the best service possible, we need to know how many individuals will be in each class so we are asking everyone to sign-up for classes at least 24 hours ahead of time. You can sign-up online, in the studio, or by calling us.
2. If you are interested in doing Pilates in a group and have a preferred time, please let us know and we will put it on our schedule.

IMPORTANT: Please refrain from wearing cologne and perfume to your workouts. We have many clients who are allergic to these products. Thank you!
