Greetings!

With summer at our doorstep, temptation is around the corner. What do I mean? You know the feeling when you've been shuttling the kids from the park, to the pool, to a play date to realize that everyone's starving, it's 7:00pm, you haven't had time to make dinner and you're too exhausted to even think about it - do you cave and go for the Happy Meal? Welcome to summer.

We all cave sometimes, and it's not worth beating ourselves up for it. We just have to try and stay as committed to eating well as we have all year. The great reward is this season offers us so many fresh fruits and vegetables, many which are grab and go, that with a little planning we can make nutrition easy.

But summer isn't all about food - it's about fun, too. We can play with our kids, join them in a game of Frisbee or tag, and take advantage of the many outdoor activities available to us. It's also the perfect time to revamp your workout - try some exercises you've never done - or just amp your current ones.

Active will be busier than ever with our usual classes and sessions as well Dave's A3 program for your teen athlete and boot camp, as well as our private or small group pilates program (scroll down to learn more). Bring a friend or family member to your workouts for extra motivation. As many of you who have experienced our programs know...we deliver fun, effective and creative workouts. They are tailored to the individual, yet designed to be done in a group as well. What makes us different? We care about the individual and want you to get results. Active Athletic Acceleration

Help your teen increase agility, strength, and speed!

Starting Monday, June 7, Dave will be holding his Active Athletic Acceleration camp for 12-18 year olds. Camp will run for four weeks on M, W, F from 4-6pm.
This is the perfect opportunity for your young athlete to learn about preventing injuries, proper conditioning, smart nutrition and body control along with many other important aspects of being an athlete in these competitive times. Small Group Pilates Classes
Master Mind Group Two Free Private sessions - How?

"Are you ready to show your abs in a bikini?"

"Do you want to improve your golf game?"

 

Our Pilates program currently offers one to one, duo or small group training. Whether you want to come by yourself, bring a group, or let us help you become a part of a group, we can make it happen. Our small group pilates program is a great economical way to begin, and it offers accountability because of the "team mentality." For 3 months, twice a week, you and 3-6 other participants will enjoy the new look and feel of your body as you work your core muscles with both the mat and apparatus exercises of classical pilates. Bring your group or let us know what days and times you can workout and we will put together one for you. You can also drop into our scheduled classes if you give us 24 hours notice or better yet, organize a group, and in return we will offer you 2 free private sessions to say "thank you for your referral!"

Recipe of the Month
 Berry Smoothie (from Julie's Fresh and Easy Recipes)
1/2 cup fresh blueberries
1/2 cup fresh raspberries
1 banana
2 scoops Jay Robb vanilla egg white protein powder
1 T. flax seed oil
12 oz. water
1 cup crushed ice
Combine all ingredients in a blender until smooth. E
Active Fitness Challenge
Master Mind Group The Results are in!
The results of the very first Active Fitness Challenge are in, and they are terrific! The team from the Learning Tree Center in Annapolis had a great experience and celebrated their success at a party in our studio. Within 6 weeks, the group had a total loss of 35 lbs and 45.5 inches. The participants all felt that the challenge was a great success; so much so, that they have signed up for another 6 week challenge. This time they've selected a group to challenge them. Great job, team! We are so proud of you.

Debi's Body Weight Challenge

Debi challenged our members to a body weight challenge for one month.  They were tested on single leg dead lifts, TRX horizontal pull-ups, push-ups (the real kind!), and planks.

Shari had the best improvement of the group!

Way to go Shari! Keep up the good work everyone!
