PTC Member Recognized as AIT's Instuctor of the Year

The SCA Team congratulates Les Hoyle, Auto Body Technician Instructor, from SAIT Polytechnic for his recent recognition as the Southern Region, Instructor of the Year.

Les was recognized on March 5, 2010 by the Apprenticeship and Industry Training Board for his outstanding work with SAIT's auto body students.

We are proud to have a key member of our Auto Body Competitions recognized with this tremendous honour.

Les not only goes above and beyond the call of duty for his students, but contributes significant personal time to volunteer on our Regional, Provincial and even the National Technical Committees.

Congratulations Les!

Plan for a Spot on Team Alberta at the Canadian Skills Competition

The 2010 Team Alberta will be selected at the Provincial Skills Canada Competition (PSCC) on May 12-13, 2010.  Six days later students, teachers, chaperones and SCA staff will travel via Westjet to Waterloo, Ontario for the Canadian Skills Competition (CSC).

During the PSCC Awards Ceremony on May 13 all students who earn a medal will be escorted Team Alberta 2backstage after we photograph their on-stage moments of success.  Gold medalists will be given their Team Alberta information package and will confirm their participation in the CSC. Students must be present at the Awards Ceremony to claim their position on Team Alberta.

If the Gold Medalist is not able to attend CSC, the next top ranking individual will be asked to participate.

SCA has booked hotels and flights for all members of Team Alberta.  The cost for a high school or post-secondary student to attend the CSC is approximately $800 and for a teacher/chaperone it is $1,250.  Th2010Website 1is cost includes flights, ground transportation, hotels, accreditation fees, a Team Alberta shirt and some meals.

Although SCA has heavily subsidized the cost to participate, we recognize the cost is significant and hope that by providing this advanced notice all eligible students will not miss an opportunity to be involved in this important event.
