Provincial & Canadian Skills Competition
Alberta's largest recognition of skilled trade and
technology talent is quickly approaching. Skills
Canada
Alberta will host the 16th Provincial
Skills Competition on May 22-23, 2008 at
Calgary's Stampede Park.
We will then welcome the best from across Canada,
as we host the Canadian Skills Competition
May 26-27, 2008 also at Stampede Park.

Competition and information on the skills tested in

Young Women Exploring Trades and Technologies Conference
Held in conjunction with the Provincial Skills
Competition, the YWETT provides young women
opportunities to explore the exciting trade
and technology careers available in today's most
dynamic industries.
The conference is open to senior high girls (grade 9
and up) who have their careers top-of-mind and are
curious about careers in
the skilled trades and technologies sectors.
From computer animation and culinary arts to graphic
design and electrical wiring, the career path
opportunities are endless!
The one-day event will feature keynote
speakers, exciting team activities, hands-
on demonstration, tours of the 30+ competition areas,
great door prize draws and much more!
Mentors will also be at the conference to
share their experiences, answer questions and
participate in informative, interactive round-table
discussions.

Regional Skills Canada Competitions are bigger than
ever in 2008, with hundreds of students participating
across the province.

Making the Provincial Skills Competition a success,
takes hundreds of volunteers each year. Hosting the
national event adds additional duties to our volunteers
already busy schedules, and we offer our tremendous
gratitude for your hard work.
If you have co-workers, friends or family that you think

We are looking for General Volunteers to help
us with
registration of delegates, the information booth, airport
welcoming and set up, event teardown, along with
mentors
for the Young Women Exploring Trades and
Technologies Conference.
Thanks to support from the Government of Canada
and WorldSkills Calgary 2009, we are pleased to offer
transportation subsidies to schools touring the
upcoming Provincial and Canadian Skills Competition.
To date 62 schools are registered to attend the event,
from Alberta and BC.
Students touring the event will take part in our
interactive Try-A-Trade® demonstrations that provide
a behind the scenes look at some of the most in-
demand careers.
The Career Path Showcase features over 80 trade
and technology focused employers, partners and
educational institutions to provide career advice.
Also showcased at the event is the popular Skills
Theatre, featuring 20
minute presentation on topics such as how to get into
the trades, the Registered Apprenticeship Program
(RAP), and finding your first job.
