Your Help Is Needed
Help Our Brothers and Sisters in Haiti
Greetings!

On Tuesday, January 12th, a 7.0 earthquake hit the capital city of Port-au-Prince in Haiti.  Early reports indicate that the death toll will be in the hundreds of thousands.  The Cathedral in Port-au-Prince was completely destroyed and Archbishop Serge Miot was found dead in the rubble.

Haiti is a predominantly Catholic nation (80%) and shares the island of Hispaniola with the Domnican Republic, a place where many of our parishioners have been doing Missionary work.  Fr. Bob Stec reports that most of the people served by "Mission Possible" are refugees from Haiti and many have family members there.  These Haitian-born residents of the Dominican suffer from the lack of rain, no phone, or electricity and now face the loss of loved ones back in Haiti.

Holy Angels will take up a second collection this weekend for the people of Haiti.  The funds will be distributed through Catholic Relief Services which has a major operation in the nation.  Other agencies are also ready to extend help.  To contribute online CLICK HERE for a list of agencies assisting the people of Haiti.

Most of all, keep the people of Haiti and the missionaries serving there in your thoughts and prayers.  May God's people extend love, care, mercy and generosity to help our brothers and sisters in faith.

Thanks, in advance, for your generosity.

Fr. Dan

A Prayer for the People of Haiti
The seas roar, the earth shakes,
buildings crumble, roofs topple
and walls turn to dust.

Have mercy on the people of Haiti, O God.

Nations watch, alarms sound,Earthquake2
traffic halts, utilities stop,
and news is hard to verify.

Give us compassion to weep with those who weep, O God.

People die, families mourn,
mountains split,
infrastructure and superstructure alike are gone.

Make us swift to help and persistent to rebuild,
not just things and structures, but lives, O God:

Through Christ, the solid Rock. Amen.
