The 2007 Non Confunditur reveals a darker profile than the rosso in its grilled herbs, licorice, dark berries and French oak. The wine shows outstanding length and finessed tannins. This is another lovely bottle from Argiano, and a terrific value. Non Confunditur is 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Sangiovese, 20% Merlot and 20% Syrah. Anticipated Maturity: 2009-2012

Although the winery opened in 1989, the Fulkerson Family has been tending the land on the west side of Seneca Lake since 1805. What began as a mostly Black Raspberry farm expanded to grape growing, followed by juice making, leading to the current winery. Fulkerson still produces 33 varieties of fresh grape juice for home wine makers and now has a portfolio of over 20 wines. Today Fulkerson's Winery produces over 30,000 cases annually and is present in New York State, Pennsylvania, Iowa, Virginia and Florida.

Seigneurs d'Aiguilhe, Côtes de Castillon, France 2008

A bright, fresh, high-toned style, showing lively damson plum, red licorice and cherry pit notes, with a lingering floral finish. Brisk and pure, with good focus. Drink now through 2012. The cepage is overwhelmingly merlot, with a small percentage of cabernet franc. Drinkable now, this elegant and red-fruit scented wine will serve very nicely indeed over the next five years.

The 2010 Valtea Albarino displays a pleasant perfume of mineral, lemon, and citrus. Medium-bodied, savory, dry, and well-balanced, this flavorful wine from an excellent vintage will provide pleasure for another 3 years.

Wild Horse, Merlot, CA 2008

Wild Horse makes its Merlot from Paso Robles, where vineyards west of the Santa Maria River contribute rich, ripe tannins and sites to the east provide a different array of aromas and flavors. When the fermented juice is blended together and aged for a year in a mix of French and Hungarian oak, the result is a wine full of spicy black and red fruit flavors enhanced by delightful acidity.
