body butter bar Our massage bars had a slight makeover and the addition of a new blend, Cedarwood-Cypress, inspired by Bark soap. The bars are used as both lotion bars and massage oils, so we changed the name from "massage bar" to "body butter bar". The new name better summarizes the multiple uses.

Why we DON'T use Fragrance Oils and ONLY use essential oils...

To achieve a scent in a product either fragrance or essential oils are used. Essential oils are extracts or distillations of plants, herbs, flowers, citrus fruits, barks, and seeds. They are 100% natural with many health benefits both topical and aromatherapuetic. Fragrance oils on the other hand are synthetic, with up to 200 individual compounds used to make one scent. The ingredients that go into one fragrance does not have to be listed on the product because of the length, instead just “fragrance” is listed. The chemicals used in fragrances can cause many problems: breathing problems, skin irritation, toxicity, and headaches to name a few. Many of the long term effects of fragrance compounds are unknown. Even when the scent of a product has a botanical reference, ex. raspberry, mango, fresh cut grass, or tomato leaf, this does not mean it is natural. Only essential oils listed as essential oils are real. Botanical fragrance is fragrance. The only fruits that have an essential oil are citrus fruits: lemon, lime, grapefruit, and tangerine. Be wise when choosing a fruit scented product. Why would fragrance be used in a ‘natural’ product when there is a natural alternative? Money. Fragrance oils are much cheaper and have a larger selection of scents. Please choose wisely and always read the ingredient list. If you have any questions regarding particular scents, fragrances, and essential oils email kelly@biggsandfeather.com
