The GLCCB and Baltimore Community Foundation (BCF) invite you to
"Talk About Giving."

Ever thought of starting a fund to support a cause you are passionate about, or leaving a legacy for that purpose?  Chances are it's easier than you think.

Whether you're a millionaire or a thousandaire, and whatever your age, you can include charitable giving as part of your financial and estate plan. With the right tools, you can do more for the causes and organizations you care about.

Come hear Tom Wilcox, President of BCF, talk about BCF, tools for giving, and how YOU can make Baltimore a better place.

Greetings!

October is GLBT History Month.  In the 1990s, teachers and community leaders believed a month should be dedicated to the celebration and teaching of GLBT history. They selected October because public schools are in session and existing traditions, such as National Coming Out Day (October 11), occur then.

The goals of GLBT History Month are to teach GLBT history, to provide role models, to build community and to highlight the GLBT community's important national and international contributions.

The GLCCB, in partnership with Equality Forum, has updated its homepage to display short daily documentaries about GLBT icons. There are 31 icons for 31 days in October. Be sure to visit our homepage each day to learn about a new icon, or visit the GLBT History Month site for any you may have missed.

During the month of October we encourage you to remember and acknowledge people in your life or community who have made a difference to you.  Also, reflect on your own coming out story, or provide support for those you may know who have just recently come out or are anywhere in the process.

Happy National Coming Out Day!
Out-rageous Almost Here!
Warhol Pie Lady

On Saturday, October 20th, the Walters Art Museum will host Tres Out-rageous: When Life Imitates Art. This one-of-a-kind event will transform the Sculpture Court and Ancient World Lobby into a spectacle of color, music and energy.

Tres Out-rageous marks a very special occasion - the 30th anniversary of the Gay & Lesbian Community Center of Baltimore (GLCCB).  It will feature unique visual performances, including Gilded Lily Burlesque and this year's City Paper's Best of Baltimore "Best Drag Queen," Sabrina White.  We will also honor five very special individuals: Lynda Dee, Harvey Schwartz, Gilbert Morrisette, Tia Chambers, and Rik Newton-Treadway.

Join us for tantalizing hors d'oeuvres provided by Sascha's, special out-rageous drinks, music by DJ Alex Funk, dancing, and a whole lot of fun.  Guests are encouraged to dress "art-rageously" and create an outfit inspired by their favorite piece or style of art.  (Semi -formal attire is o.k. too)  This is definitely one event that you won't want to miss this season!

For more information or to purchase tickets, call Joel Rosado at (410) 837-5445 x17 or email jrosado@glccb.org.  Or, click here to order online.

Pride in the Arts

iNto OUT ArtPride in the Arts and the Womb will be on hiatus for the months of October, November, and December.

During the break the GLCCB will be working on exciting new exhibitions, events, and screenings that will take the Pride in the Arts program to a whole new level. The next Pride in the Arts event will occur on Friday January 25, 2008.

Events being scheduled are an Art Fashion Show, a screening of the film "Lessons Learned" by Kubla Khan Productions, an art event in collaboration with the Radical Artist Movement and exciting exhibitions by local LGBT artists.

The Womb is in the process of restructuring and will return with a new format and new opportunities for LBT female lyricists to develop their skills.
