HIV Vaccine Awareness Day 2006 & 25th Anniversary of AIDS/HIV Research
This June will mark the 25th anniversary of AIDS, a
pandemic that affects more than 40 million people
worldwide and claimed more than three million lives
last year.
According to the latest CDC data, there are nearly
20,000 people living with AIDS cases in the
Baltimore metropolitan area. The AIDS epidemic is
not over, and on behalf of the GLCCB and other
HIV/AIDS service providers, we invite you to report
on our efforts to spread the word that finding a
safe and effective HIV vaccine is our best hope for
ending the AIDS epidemic.
May 18 is HIV Vaccine Awareness Day, a day dedicated
to spreading awareness and educating the public
about HIV vaccine research. And we invite you to
attend our events on Thursday May 18, 2006.

Melissa Ferrick Returns
|
|
One of the big attractions at last year's Baltimore
Pride festival was singer-songwriter Melissa
Ferrick. Thousands were on hand at Druid Hill Park
last June, many travelling just to see her
performance.
VH1.com says "Toss Dave Matthews, Shawn Colvin, and
Melissa Etheridge in a blender, hit 'frappe,' and
pour yourself a tall glass of Melissa Ferrick."
This July, Melissa is returning to Baltimore for a
more intimate show at Club Hippo. Please join us on
Sunday, July 16th for a full-lenth show presented by
the GLCCB and the Hippo. Proceeds will benefit the
GLCCB and help support its programming.
Tickets are available at the Hippo and the GLCCB
office. General Admission tickets are $20, Reserved
seating is $25, and a limited number of VIP tickets
are available for $30 which includes a private
reception and refreshments.
Doors open at 8:00
p.m., show starts at 9:00. Call the Hippo at (410)
