New Product That Makes Sense
Plug Sense, Tongue Here is a new product that many of you will wish had been around years earlier.  It's called Plug Sense and it does make a lot of sense.  The two piece plug protects both ends of your 7 pin Plug Sense, Bumperadapter.  It prevents corrosion of the plug and wires and makes sure that when you go to plug in, the connection will be in good shape.  There is nothing worse than heading out on the road and finding out you have electrical problems.  Plug Sense  just makes sense.

Judy - There's an RV on Fire!

We left Alberta on a sunny and cool day and are now back in Arizona.  We ran into a little snow going over the Monida Pass but nothing significant.  We stayed overnight in Mesquite and about 5 o'clock in the morning I awoke to a "boom"!  A few seconds later there was another "boom".  I thought, "that doesn't sound like gunfire, it sounds like an explosion."  Then I heard the firetrucks coming.  I looked out the window and there was a trailer fully engulfed in flames across the street.  The explosions were the propane tanks going off.  The fire trucks arrived but all they could do was watch and wait.  There was nothing left to save.

I talked to the occupants and they said the wall mounted furnace caught fire.  They woke up to smoke and were unable to put the fire out. She was wearing PJ's and standing barefoot in the park. He was in stocking feet, jeans and a shirt.  Everything else was gone.  The truck was also damaged by the fire.  The keys to the truck were in the trailer so he couldn't move it out of the way.

The trailer was two years old and they had just bought it.  They were living in it while they were waiting for the purchase of their new home to close.  The trailer wasn't insured.

There they were, 5 am in the morning, no clothes, no money, no ID, no credit cards, no cell phone, no home, no nothing.  Where would you start?  We gathered up some clothes, slippers, toothpaste and toothbrush, underwear and anything we had on hand that could help them get through the day.  We all need to ponder this - are we prepared if such a disaster to strike us?  The only good news is they got out safely.

Coil n' Wrap Blog Coming Soon

We will be starting a Blog the beginning of January that you will be able to sign up for.  We have been talking about doing this for quite awhile and have been researching different models and ideas.  You will be able to sign up for it on the website and of course we will announce it in the newsletter.  This will allow for interactive communication between you, other users and Coil n' Wrap.  We will be able to answer customer questions in a format where other people can see the questions and answers.  I often get phone calls with questions about our products and answer the customer over the phone.  A lot of these questions would be of interest to other RVers and they will now see the question and answer in the blog.  Hope you enjoy it.  We will look forward to your feedback.
Funny Family Story
For those of you who have been readers of the newsletter for the last number of years you will remember that my 85 year old Mother has a new friend in her life.  Dad passed away a few years back and so did George's wife.  My mom and George grew up together, were friends as couples, had a cottage at the same lake and so over the years they were always in touch.  They now do everything together and it's been a blessing for them and for us.  One night they eat at George's and the next night at Mom's.  They are always going somewhere, whether it be shopping, doctor's appointments or out to dinner with family and friends.  We are so happy that George is in Mom's life. George was and still is an RVer.

We parked our RV in the driveway of Mom's house on different occasions over the year and of course we have the motion sensor light installed at the front door.  To get to Mom's house you have to park or walk by our front door which turns on the motion sensor light.  We never thought anything about it as it's just part of our lifestyle.

The night before we were leaving for the US, Mom and George came over for Happy Hour and somehow the discussion turned to the Motion Sensor Light.  They didn't realize that such a light was available for RV's and thought we were being very nice to turn the light on for them everytime they drove up or walked by.  However, they were puzzled as to how we knew they were there as the curtains on the RV were closed some of the time.  George would leave to go home and would no sooner get out the door of the house and the RV light would come on.  The curtains were closed and he couldn't figure out how we knew he was leaving.  We absolutely roared about this when they told us they thought we were keeping an eye on them.

We have always stressed the importance of the security aspects of the motion sensor light as no one expects an RV to have one.

FUSE BOX  by Starlights

You have been asking...Starlights has been listening.  For those of you who have two lights on one switch,  Starlights ToiletPaper Rollhas come up with a special fuse box that will allow you to connect two lights into one
circuit.  You can even add other devices to the switchbox, including an alarm that would sound when the light came on, or a lamp could light in the house to let you know someone is outside.  These extra devices aren't offered by Starlights but the option is there for those that are so inclined.

There is an exception to the use of the Fuse Box.  If you have a Scare Light on each side of your rig and they are on ONE switch,  you will not need the Fuse Box as the motion sensor lights will operate independent of each other. In other words, one will come on when there is motion and not both of them at the same time.

NEW LED BULB by Starlights

Smart Light LED whiteLED bulbs for RV's are becoming very popular.  The challenge has been two things.  Price and quality.  Many of the lights on the market are inferior and just don't last.  When you pay $20 or $25 for a bulb, they had better last.  Many aren't performing as advertised.  I know you will be happy with this new LED bulb as Starlights has built in the same quality that is in all of their products.

The Revolution 200 pictured above is 2.5 watts and gives off a constant 200 lumens and will replace the #1003,  #1156 and other bayonet type bulbs that are currently either on the inside or outside of your RV. It is rated for 10,000 hours.

The regular #1003 incandescent starts off at 189 lumens, but quickly degrades to 75 lumens and only lasts 200 hours.  You can run (10) of the LED bulbs for every (1) 1003 (in terms of power consumption).

The #1156 bulb starts off at 402 lumens and degrades to 160 and is rated at 600 hours.  You can run 22 LED lights for every #1156 in your RV.

Benefits of the LED Bulb
  • The base of the LED bulb is adjustable so that no matter how a fixture's bayonet is clocked, the Revolution can be adjusted to shine the most possible amount of light.
  • They also give off significantly less heat than an incandescent bulb.
  • Uses exponentially less power

For those of you who do a lot of dry camping or boondocking this new LED light will save you so much drain on the batteries you will be amazed.  At a recent show people were buying them in bulk quantities.  Some people bought 10, 12, 14 and up.  One person bought 25 bulbs! People are changing the lights all over the rig.

The demand has been so high that we cannot get any more until Dec 15.  As a result, we are putting the LED bulb on sale at a 20% discount.  You can pre-order them today and we'll ship mid-December.
Don't miss out on this sale.
