June - The Beginning of Summer
Getting the Rig Ready for the Road
June 2008

June has arrived which means that Fathers Day and the US Open Golf Championship will  happen this month.  Also, June is the beginning of summer which for many people means getting the rig ready for summer travel.  With the price of fuel where it's at, there's going to be a definite impact on travel plans for many people.  It appears from reading the trade journals that most people are still planning on enjoying the RV lifestyle this summer but won't travel as far and will probably stay longer in one place than they may have planned before.  The RV lifestyle isn't going to go away that's for sure.  There are millions of people retiring who have planned for years to hit the road and see the country in their RV and while some of them will find their dreams put on hold, many others will not change their plans.

Judy and I are planning a trip to Alberta to see the kids and grandkids over the summer and are looking forward to that.  We aren't looking forward to the fuel bill that's for sure.

We have put some products on special this month as you will see below.  One product we have never put on sale before are the coiling products.  Those wonderful products started our company six years ago and have been perennial favorites eversince.  they help to organize your hoses, cords and cables into neat, tidy and compact bundles.  They eliminate all twisting and kinking of your hoses, cords and cables.  Thexe space savers help create organization in those storage bins.  Most RVers have 2 or 3 hoses, a TV Cable, a 30 amp extension cable, 10, 12, 14 or 16 gauge extension cords that take up room and can sometimes be a real mess.  Our Coiling System keeps everything neat, tidy and organized.  They are on sale this month at 20% off.  It's like buying 5 and getting the 6th one for free.  Don't miss out on this special.

Wherever your travels take you this summer, we hope you miss the tornadoes and bad weather and find only sunshine and safe travels.

Many RV's, mainly towable units, have a gravity fill water system.  This is where you push the hose in the side of the rig and wait for it to fill up.   Sometimes when you check and see how it's filling you find the hose lying on the street.  This happens because the air in the tank is trying to get out and is being blocked by the hose. The breather tube isn't large enough to let out the air quickly enough and the hose is occupying 6 or 12 inches of the tube.  This pressure buildup can push the hose out onto the ground or you might have water gushing out and the tanks still not full.

Hose Filler Adapter Our E-Z Fill Water Filler simplifies this process.  Just unscrew the cap where you add water and screw the E-Z Fill to these threads.  Attach your hose to the end of the E-Z Fill and turn on the tap.

Hose Filler Adapter 2There are holes in the threaded cap that allow air to escape from the tank, which means you can fill much faster. (see picture) When the tank is full, water will come out through these holes giving you overflow protection.  You can turn the water off using the convenient shut off that is included.

When you get to the campsite filling the rig can be a challenge as you may be in a State Park with no connections close by or perhaps you are dry camping.  Our E-Z Fill Funnel Filler can help out.  The ToiletPaper RollFunnel Filler is designed to screw on to the threads of the water filler connection.  Included with the Funnel Filler is a self- adhesive clip which attaches to the side of the rig.  Attach the chain from the Funnel to the clip on the side of the rig. Now one person can add water to the rig from a bottle or bucket and only one person gets wet!  Another application for this product is when you want to flush out your tank with a  bleach mixture or perhaps in the fall you may want to winterize your unit.  This makes the job a snap.

Water Bandit If you are staying at a State Park they have usually cut the threads off the water tap making it impossible to connect a hose to fill up the rig.  The Water Bandit was designed to help out.  It attaches to the end of your hose and the soft rubber end slips up over the water connection allowing you to fill up your tank.  It's not a tight fit like a threaded connection but it is more convenient than having to use a bucket.

PLUG DOGS REDUCE STRESS &
BLOOD PRESSURE!
Unplugging electrical plugs or separating them from adapters can be a real pain.  Particularly with 50 amp plugs!  You have to twist them to get them out of the campground receptacle and wiggle and twist to separate them from your dog bone adapter.  Some RVers have even used screwdrivers in order to get them apart.   It  can really get your blood pressure up that's for sure.  About five years ago we introduced the solution to this problem and ever since PLUG DOGS have been one of our top selling products.

Plug Dog 50 amp w/holes
PLUG DOGS are pre-punched straps that are non-wicking, non conductive, non flammable and will not interfere with electrical connectivity.
They come in 50 amp and 30 amp sizes and have Velcro closures to secure them to your electrical plug.  They work on both ends of the adapter making it a simple process to separate the adapter Plug Dogs 30 & 50from your main plug.  The handle allows you to pull the plug easily out of the campground receptacle. You can also separate two plugs by putting your toe in the handle of one PLUG DOG and pulling the other one apart from it.

The guys call PLUG DOGS stress reducers, the ladies call them language improvers.  Try them you'll love them.
