Bible Study Starting Up! Where: at the home of Joy Stamey, 118 Charter Place Mooresville When: Thursday September 6 Time: 9:30 to 11:30 Study name: Beth Moore- Mercy Triumphs: Lessons from James . I have worked out to borrow the videos from another group which saves us $200! Yeah God! James, Jesus' own brother, started out as a skeptic. See how one glimpse of the resurrected Savior turned an unbeliever into a disciple with Beth Moore's study James: Mercy Triumphs. Once you get to know both the man and the Book of James, you'll never be the same again. Bible scholars compare James to the prophet Amos. In other ways, James more closely resembles the Book of Proverbs than any New Testament book. James is a book with many topics -- social justice, joy, hardship, faith, reversal of fortunes for rich and poor, wisdom, gifts from above, single-mindedness, the dangers of the tongue, humility, and prayer -- all of which are covered in this study. (8 video sessions with 7 weeks of print study) Our format is we take 1 month to study 1 week of material. So it will take us 7 months to complete this study! I will be glad to order you a book - they will be around $20 each. I will let you know the exact price when I order with tax and shipping.

 Missions is It!
God wants His people to partner with Him in the process of redeeming our lost world. Much of the Old Testament reports on His efforts to get the Israelites to be His "priestly nation" and "a light to the nations." But they kept forgetting His purpose in calling them together in the first place, despite the prophets He sent to remind them, as summarized by Stephen in Acts 7. Finally, Jesus came as Savior, but God's idea of having His people work with Him in the redemption process remained unchanged. The Book of Acts records how the church Jesus started became empowered by the Holy Spirit to tell of God's love far and wide. But His original intent is the same-He wants to be in a relationship with all the peoples of the world, and He wants us to help make it happen. This is missions, and it is the uniting theme of the Bible, from Genesis to Revelation. Here's a shorthand way to express it:
Missions is not part of the church program.
Missions is the church program.

He Knows You!
If you are a nice person; if virtue comes easily to you for whatever reason.....be careful Much is expected from those to whom much is given. It is a gross mistake to take for your own merits what are really God's gifts to you. But if you are the result of a negative background and are plagued by some of the repercussions.....do not despair. He knows all about you. Know that He understands what a wretched machine you are trying to drive. Hang in with Him and spectacular things will result. (Some of the last will be first and the first will be last).

Building Access Policy
If you need access to the church for an approved function or other activity, you will need to plan ahead and make timely arrangements with a staff member (or other key holder) to gain access to the building. For an approved function where a key is to be borrowed, please make these arrangements 1 week in advance of the function. Thank you!

Prayer Room Volunteers Needed
God has said that His house is one of prayer. It is the foundation for all ministry. If you believe you are being called by God to pray on Sunday mornings during the teaching time please call Barbara Abbott at 828-478-1073, or e-mail her at prayer@gfellowship.org to sign up. This is a rotation ministry and you will probably be called to pray once every two or three months. As intercessor, you will be with the congregation for the praise and worship and then go to the prayer room at the back of the sanctuary during the time that Pastor Roy teaches. There are many aids in the prayer room to help you pray.
