Who Is This God Who Asks Us To Pray
Nave's Topical Bible gives us scriptures galore telling us that He is our Creator, compassionate, faithful, our Father, the God of glory, holy, immutable, jealous, judge and just, long suffering, exemplified love, merciful, full of grace, forgiving, omnipotent and omniscient, omnipresent, providencial, ultimately powerful, our preserver, mysterious, righteous, sovereign, perfect truth, unchangeable, voice of wisdom.............just to name some of His attributes.............and He wants us to talk to Him and He to us.
How foolish to ignore Him!!!!
Let my cry come right into your presence, GOD; provide me with the insight that comes only from your Word. Give my request your personal attention, rescue me on the terms of your promise. Let praise cascade off my lips; after all, you've taught me the truth about life! Excerpts from Psalm 119, The Message |

Missions is It!
God wants His people to partner with Him in the process of redeeming our lost world. Much of the Old Testament reports on His efforts to get the Israelites to be His "priestly nation" and "a light to the nations." But they kept forgetting His purpose in calling them together in the first place, despite the prophets He sent to remind them, as summarized by Stephen in Acts 7. Finally, Jesus came as Savior, but God's idea of having His people work with Him in the redemption process remained unchanged. The Book of Acts records how the church Jesus started became empowered by the Holy Spirit to tell of God's love far and wide. But His original intent is the same-He wants to be in a relationship with all the peoples of the world, and He wants us to help make it happen. This is missions, and it is the uniting theme of the Bible, from Genesis to Revelation. Here's a shorthand way to express it:
Missions is not part of the church program. Missions is the church program.

Missions Focus:
G.E.M.'s Medical and Evangelism February 2011 ministry in Ghana, W. Africa is now one for the history books! A total of 38,093 individuals made professions of faith and a new church was planted! Please make these your prayer focus over the next couple of weeks as well as the pastors will will take on the daunting task of discipleing them. Pray that the Holy Spirit will take control and they will grow in faith.

Prayer Room Volunteers Needed
God has said that His house is one of prayer. It is the foundation for all ministry. If you believe you are being called by God to pray on Sunday mornings during the teaching time please call Barbara Abbott at 828-478-1073, or e-mail her at prayer@gfellowship.org to sign up. This is a rotation ministry and you will probably be called to pray once every two or three months. As intercessor, you will be with the congregation for the praise and worship and then go to the prayer room at the back of the sanctuary during the time that Pastor Roy teaches. There are many aids in the prayer room to help you pray. |
