Bajawalla
Saturday, February 24 @ 10pm
Bajawalla is soul in the sun. It's summertime music
that's good (and good for you).
Bajawalla has gone by a few different names in their
5 years together. When they formed at the
University of Notre Dame in early 2000, they were a
reggae/pop band called the Island Boys. The guys
quickly started to blend their various individual
influences into original material. The band's sound
grew into an eclectic and unique collage of styles
including rock, alternative, funk and hip-hop - they
developed a large and diverse local following under
the name Station One.
Bajawalla is moving on up. In just their first 4
months in Chicago they've packed many well known
venues, were invited to play Milwaukee's Summerfest
and showcased for Epic Records. With their debut
EP Spread the Music (produced by Umphrey
McGee's Manny Sanchez), a brand new
independent label and a solid tour, the band has
made a new home in Chicago, and is focused on a
bright future.
Bajawalla's powerpop, surf rock, reggae blend
is promising...you're guaranteed a great time at this
show.
