Dear Women of Wisdom,
Time flies when we're having fun and I hope all of you had fun this summer. And here it is September already! The end of summer marks the beginning of school and autumn will officially start on September 22nd. I'm looking forward to the trees changing colors, a hint of coolness in the air, and some rain for my garden.
But there are so many other things to look forward to this month! WOW is offering several opportunities for fun and community so take a moment to check them out:
Simone LaDrumma will be facilitating the Women's Qi Dances while Karen Fletcher is in China, so expect some amazing music as well as some LIVE (and lively) drumming.
We also have have a Community Connections this month showing us how to "Awaken the Divine Within" and we're offering something new beginning this month as well. This month will be the first Women's Spirit Drum Circle, Drumming with Intention, that we will be offering once a month.
There's much more, but I hope this small taste will encourage you to peruse the rest of the newsletter for other opportunities as well as Imsara's Astrological Overview for September.

The Conference Committee has already begun reviewing the many wonderful proposals submitted for consideration for workshops for the upcoming 2013 Conference and the call for Goddess Market Vendors has opened up! Each person will get an individual heart awakening which will help them to open up to more love and compassion. This process encourages everyone to be authentic, free, and liberated. As each individual is awakened, the whole group participates which results in an incredible bond. Sharon Rose Morris has a degree in Speech Communication, traveled internationally for the airlines for ten years, and then was extremely financially successful in network marketing, which did not bring happiness. She moved to the Oregon coast where her innate shamanic healing gifts emerged. 3:00 - 5:00 p m Singing the Sacred: Sound as Prayer with Sandra Locklear
Our world is a rich and responsive tapestry of sound vibrations and frequencies. Song and chant are the oldest form of praying, no matter what our faith or spiritual discipline. Come join an inter-spiritual song circle as we ease into releasing our voices and co-create and share simple original prayer songs to all that surrounds and sustains us. We'll tune in and listen deep inside and then will work solo or in small groups with optional rattles, drums or other forms of accompaniment of your choosing. Participants must bring own instruments. Together we provide a safe and reverent container for the expression of our unique song prayers. Everything listens.
"Music is a language of the human spirit," says Sandra Locklear, professional pianist, singer-songwriter and recording artist based out of Seattle, WA. As a certified music educator, Sandra is dedicated to being a role model for the young and ensuring the continuity of the arts in public education. As spirit song carrier, Sandra Thundereye is privileged to hear, hold and share women's songs. In all capacities she takes deep joy in encouraging musical expression and creativity in others.

What did you look like before your parents were born?

ARIES -LETTING GO-Something has fulfilled its time and may be no longer necessary. As you go through this month it will become clear. Take action now that lends itself to renewal. On the other hand, someone or something can resurface that you once though gone. There is a deeper wisdom available to you now. As you heed your inner council you can find it can bring surprising results. A deeper maturity in response to life situations also begins to surface. The capacity to look objectively at oneself and others is often priceless. Pause before jumping into the unknown and seek to discern a deeper level of meaning first before you act. Humour can also work magic in lightening things up and seeing the brighter side to the situations that face you now. Be flexible, yet true to yourself. Be at peace.
TAURUS -GESTATION... is brewing within. Ay storms have passed and swept away the elements that were currently blocking your progress. It is important to finish up any unfinished business and dust out the remaining elements so you can make the most of the upcoming months. Might there be some kind of project or enterprise afoot? This is good news. Inner strength may be put to the test but you can learn a lot. Throw a little caution to the winds and allow the liberation to begin. The sun is rising and brighter days beckon. Be the first to greet it with open arms. The warmth of renewal can be upon you as you step into the excitement of new beginnings, if only modest at first. Staying static serves no one. Clear the air where need be!
GEMINI -JOURNEY...you may remember the past more for the purpose of applying it to your present needs and creativity. Wisdom will be emerging and not a moment too soon. Take heed of your inner stirrings. Pay attention to details and respect the passing of time. Sometimes you just need to rise to the occasion and take charge of the more unruly elements of your personality. You are about to begin several years of finding out more about who you really are. A stronger position on many things may be part of your learning curve as you also realize the value of what you have to offer. Your efforts can be recognized in ways that can surprise you. Hunker down and focus.
CANCER- VICTORY...at the successful completion of a cycle. Moving into your new birth year, deepen ways you can test your mettle and skills. The outer aspects of a situation are masking a deeper truth that you need to see. It is also important to know your limitations-what you can and cannot do.
Accommodate your changing needs by bringing in new perceptions and examining your values and beliefs-particularly about relationships. The feeling of community that can be expressed in direct, simple gestures is very important now. Focus on togetherness and cooperation with those of like mind. Through these activities you can gain more insight into yourself and what makes you happy. Step out of anything you may be in remaining bondage to. Your path is an ongoing cycle of development that will ultimately assist you in breaking free of the "should" of social living, rules and pressures to conform!

Women's History you have never been taught

 Women's history is not taught in schools or universities, meaning each woman has to learn her history on her own or not at all. This Teleclass will discuss how women's history has been lost, some important facts like the Peking man is actually the Peking woman, and rewrite some of the women back into history that have made a difference in all of our lives. This course, hoped to be the first of many, will focus on how the history was lost, the importance of spirituality and healing for ancient women, as well as accomplishments of women in the arts. Suggestions and exercises will be designed to help participants re-find and re-store this history. The course facilitator will also give suggestions on resources of Women's History and creative ways to learn about women's history.
Kathleen M. Bishop, Ph.D. is a Gerontologist with a specialty in aging in people with disabilities, women, and environmental design. She has presented over 15 years on-line and over 30 years of traditional classroom teaching. Her passion is women's history, she presents frequently on topics related to women's history. She is also a published author of 'Whistling up the Wind" and is currently writing a book 'Reclaiming women's lives through diaries and letters.'
