At age 34, Florida state Rep. ANITERE FLORES (Delta Kappa, Florida International University) recently swept 81% of the votes during an election primary for state senator, and turned down the opportunity to run for the Sunshine State's lieutenant governor. She vies for the senate seat in November. (Stay tuned.)
DR. SANDRA ARKIN (Beta Beta, University of Washington) is the new face of the AARP in Colorado. A former Archon who earned her doctorate in gifted education from the University of Denver, she was selected from more than 200 applicants for the AARP's YouTube pilot program promoting the benefits of the association.
Networking expert/author SUSAN ROANE (Theta, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign) has released a new e-book, "Nuances of Business Networking," available free via her website. RoAne, a frequently quoted media source, is renowned for her best-selling book, "How to Work a Room."
Florida businesswoman-turned-movie director MARCIE SOTHERN GORMAN-ALTHOF (Beta Psi, University of Florida) has just released her first independent film, The Incubus. Geared to paranormal and dark romance fans, the movie is now showing in selected theaters. Gorman-Althof was the former spokesperson and owner of one of the largest Weight Watchers franchises in the world.
Kudos to all 2009-2010 Fraternity awards and honors winners, as well as Foundation scholarships and grants recipients! Plus: Snaps to DELTA IOTA CHAPTER (Central Michigan University) for being the first to earn the trifecta of top Phi Sig honors: Archon of the Year, Collegian of the Year and Chapter of the Year.
