Fall in the Capital City A great time to visit for adventure and for culture
Juneau may be best known for our summer season, when the visitors and locals alike enjoy the many activities available in our wilderness capital city.
Winter is also an active time for visitors who come to be challenged by exciting winter sports.
But autumn is a great time to discover the wonders of life at Latitute 58...crowds are gone, the weather is mild, and the activities are still abundant.

Perseverance Theatre's 2010-2011 Season is Underway
For a local theatre company whose mission is to be a "professional theatre by, for, and about Alaskans," Juneau's Perseverance Theatre has once again developed a schedule of plays to entertain, educate, and involve audiences throughout its new season.
Since 1979, Alaska's flagship professional theatre has served our community through classical, contemporary, and world premiere productions on their main and second stages, and this season is no different.
- Through October 31: Circle Mirror Transformation
Award-winning writer Annie Baker's wry and witty drama about four lost and very different souls who show up for a community center acting course. - December 3-26: This Wonderful Life
Steve Murray's story of a man who loves Frank Capra's holiday classic, "It's a Wonderful Life," and is great entertainment for the entire family. - January 14-February 6: The Blue Bear
A new play based on the memoir of Juneau author Lynn Schooler. As a wilderness guide in 1990, Schooler met Japanese photographer Michio Hoshino, and the two embarked on a quest to photograph the rare and legendary blue (or glacier) bear. Perseverance Theatre's world premiere of "The Blue Bear" will combine Schooler's text with Hoshino's images in a visually stunning production. - March 11 - April 10: The Importance of Being Earnest
Oscar Wilde's classic play involves plot twists, mistaken identity, and witty dialogue to create a delightful night of theatre. "The Importance of Being Earnest" is considered one of the greatest romantic comedies ever written and is Wilde's most famous play. - November Bonus: Tuesdays with Morrie A limited run on the main stage of "Tuesdays with Morrie."
