Greetings!
As the sun begins to shine and winter turns to spring,
your patients will become more concerned with turning
back the hands of time. During this busy time, it can be
difficult to keep up with the ever-changing world of
aesthetic medicine. To help keep you up to date, this
issue of the AMET newsletter will report on the new
practices/procedures and products being talked about in
the aesthetic cosmetic industry.

BOTOX Administration - Without the Needle

Botulinum Toxin as we know it, is administered with the
used of a syringe and needle. According to a recent
Italian study, this method may become obsolete. The
administration of BOTOX using "pulsed current
iontophoresis" showed promising results "opening the
door to a possible future of needleless administration".
A needleness method of administration could be
beneficial when performing this procedure on clients who
are leery of needles. An additional method of
administering BOTOX would be beneficial and enable
practitioners to have the ability to choose which method
they prefer.

The versatility of Dermal Fillers

Lip augmentation with the use of dermal fillers offer
patients the versatility and flexibility in a non-invasive
procedure. Women want the flexibility to change their
look over time. The look a woman wants today, may not
necessarily be the look they want ten years from now.
Using dermal fillers for lip augmentation allows this
flexibility, while being a quick, relatively painless
procedures is a plus as well!

Research: Botilinum Toxin as a Topical Treatment

Research is being conducted by Revance Therapeutics
for the use of Botilinum toxin as a topical treatment.
Results are encouraging that Botilinum toxin may be an
effective topical medication for the use of hyperhidrosis
and other cosmetic uses. Research is still in the
preliminary stages, but Medicis sees the benefits of this
research and had contributed $20 million for further
research.
According to Dan Browne, President and CEO of
Revance, much more research must be
conducted. "There's a lot more that we don't know than
we do know, but our approach is driven by scientific data,
and what we've seen so far is preclinical and clinical
trials
outside the US. has been very encouraging," says
Browne. We look forward to hearing more about this
research!
