| Greetings! |
 Hi Aroma Friends,
September can be a crazy month. Everyone seems to be racing around either to catch the tail end of summer, getting the kids ready to go back to school or just because they do not know any other way, as they are so used to being in a hurry.
How about trying to bring some order, peace and tranquility into your life? I can hear you saying that it's easier said than done but it is sort of like weeding the garden - if you just pull a few weeds every time you are outside you will start to see the difference. Iif you can manage to bring some order to a small part of your life, you will be more prepared for the Christmas rat race. Essential oils are very good at supporting any changes, you just have to make the decision to start the change.
There are so many ways that essential oils can become part of your life and I will address a few every month. Being as September is "back to school" month, I am reminded of smelly sports bags - never a pleasant thought. I recommend Spearmint essential oil. For every bottle of Spearmint essential oil bought in September, we will include a bag of 6 absorbent cards. A few drops of this antiseptic essential oil on an absorbent card, placed in a sports bag, will not only smell good but will protect against bacteria that may be lurking around. Also, its stimulant nature will make you feel good. You could also try placing a spearmint card in your fridge for a nice clean smell, in your lunch bag or under the rug, I have one under the cutlery tray in my kitchen drawer.
This month we will be releasing our new price list which will include a number of exciting new products (see further on in the newsletter). We are very excited to be working with some amazing suppliers, particularly the cooperative in Nepal where some of our new products are from.
We wish you all the best this month! Aromatically yours,
Barb

| Carrier Oils for Cleansing the Skin |
Carrier oils (sometimes known as vegetable oils) are not just used for diluting essential oil but have their own unique properties and are beneficial on their own. In Roman times people massaged vegetable oil into their skin and then scraped it all off along with the dirt. Carrier oils can be used very effectively for cleansing and nourishing the skin. Avocado, Emu, Jojoba and Rosehip are the richer, heavier oils suitable for dry skin where Virgin Coconut, Grapeseed and Sweet Almond are better for oily skin as they are lighter and more absorbent.
Liquid Coconut oil, due to the process of fractionating it, can be quite drying so it is useful for troubled skin especially where fungus and bacteria are a problem. Evening Primrose is neither heavy or light, somewhere in the middle. It is high in gammalinoleic acid which is said to rejuvenate skin cells making it wonderful for mature skin.
Recipe for a general cleanser
This recipe makes a great cleanser for taking make-up off as well as cleansing and nourishing the skin. If you feel you need a deeper cleanse you can add oatmeal, ground almonds or hazelnuts to the mixture and work it into your skin gently. Then rinse off with warm water. |
| Customer Feedback & Recipes | |
"I have used your products for many years and I'm sooooo happy they are available on the internet. I use my oils everyday - thru nebulizers, oil rings on my lamps, and in my Reiki practise. Love...love.....love your stuff. Thanks." M.S.
"I recently placed a small order with your company and just wanted to thank you for the prompt service! The process was easy and I will be ordering again. I was also pleased to receive your Aromatherapy Essentials book, WOW! It is so full of information! I'm sure my clients will want a copy." G.N.
One of our customers sent in this recipe for pain relief. We haven't tried it yet but please let us know if you do and what results you have:

| Did You Know? |
According to the dictionary "cephalic" means "in the head". When connected with essential oils "cephalic" refers to remedies for disorders of the head. Cephalic oils are thought to aid the memory especially Rosemary essential oil. The area of the brain that registers smell is very closely connected to the area that is involved with memory in the oldest part of the brain, which was well developed by our most primitive ancestors.
Barb tried adding a couple of drops of Rosemary to her "honey do" list. It seems to have worked. |
| New Products | |
We are very excited to let you know about all the new products we are introducing a little later this month when we release our 2010/2011 pricelist.
Essential Oils
We have developed a relationship with a new supplier from Nepal - a small farmer's cooperative where local and indigenous people participate in the cultivation of the plants. They have quite a limited production but are proud of the fact that they use the traditional ways of farming and still preserve the culture of non-adulterated and non-synthetic material.
We have ordered essential oil of Rhododendron, Cornmint and Valerian. In addition, we will be re-adding Rosewood essential oil sourced from renewable and sustainable forests, as well as Chocolate Peppermint essential oil.
Books
We have sourced two new books to add to our collection: "Naturally Clean Home" and "Making Aromatherapy Creams and Lotions".
Hydrosols
From one of our favorite hydrosol suppliers come the following additions to our hydrosol line: Black Spruce, Chocolate Peppermint and Yarrow.
Be sure to watch for the announcement about when these products will be for sale! |
