GODS, ANGELS & ALIENS |  In my novel, GODS OF EDEN, Anthropologist Gabe Turpin discovers hard evidence that humankind was created, not by a Bible School God, but by ancient aliens. In my story, having this evidence upsets a lot of apple carts. Gabe's discovery is not that welcome to others with their own self-centered agendas. A lot of people want the evidence destroyed. And so, too, outside of the pages of fiction, such a notion can be challenging, though its possibility is becoming less and less out of the question. Not more than just a few years ago, such a notion--ancient aliens creating Homo Sapiens, would have been considered absolute heresy, and/or lunacy...so to speak. But now, there are numerous TV shows, movies and books that openly foster the notion. And those TV programs, movies and books lead me to wonder at the true nature of what I would call... READ MORE |

WHAT'S IT LIKE TO DIE? | |
 In my novel, DREAMS OF THE N'DOROBO, Gabe Turpin relives his death on Mt. Kenya and his resurrection in the mission hospital in Nyere. Of course, Gabe's death experience on Mt. Kenya is based on my death on that same mountain in 1979. Talking about what it's like to die makes for...difficult conversation. It is an extremely personal thing, and when I wrote the scenes in the novel, it was life changing, and posed to be an emotional and spiritual roller coaster ride.
Of course, it is impossible to carry on a conversation about what death is like. Simply, there are no words. However, being a word smith, I pursued the challeng and tried to get at least "close." So, and throwing all caution to the wind...
There is nothing quite so unique as death...
Death came in and on me...quickly-very quickly-rushing in, displacing everything. Claiming all I had. There are no words for its simple efficiency. Unstoppable...Formidable...are not even close. Not even close.
Close your eyes and imagine you are five years old, alone...at night...floating in the middle of the ocean. That's what you are as you face Death. But aloneness is not fearful. It is just that Death is larger than we can imagine in life. Death is so large, that there are no words large enough. Death is so quick, that there are no words fast enough. And in Death, you are so alone that being a young child, floating in the middle of the ocean at night...is not alone enough. READ MORE |

WHO OR WHAT CREATED WHO OR WHAT? | 
In my novel, GODS OF EDEN, Gabe and Dr. James Hoke reveal to the group how Homo Sapiens, as a species, is relatively new on the scene and hence, cannot be a species with a long evolutionary lineage. In fact, Dr. Hoke was right.
More so, not only was Hoke correct about the lack of an evolutionary path for humans, almost every organism on earth shares that lack of a slow, evolutionary growth. Studies show that almost all species appeared on earth much faster than evolutionary theory would allow. Simply, there was not enough time between the Precambrian ooze and the life-rich oceans of the Cambrian for genetic mutation and evolution to explain the explosion of life and diversity of species.
