Greetings!

The name Cadillac has always been synonymous with innovation and the brand continues to forge an exciting new path into the future. Down the road, we'll be talking about  Super Cruise, Cadillac's self-driving car and the ELR electric coupe. Today, we await the delivery of the 2013 models featuring CUE, Cadillac's new infotainment system and the XTS, featuring the patented Safety Alert Seat.

We've created a game around the arrival of the XTS called XTS-timate and we hope you'll play.  A few simple guesses about when the first XTS will arrive, what color it will be, the MSRP and you could win an iPad or one of 20 other great prizes.   hope you'll join the fun and PLAY XTS-TIMATE today.  The contest ends the minute the first XTS rolls off the truck...what day that will be is anyone's guess.

The Technologically Advanced 2013 SRX

Cadillac introduced technology and design enhancements to the SRX luxury crossover SUV at the New York International Auto Show. Among the new features for 2013 is CUE, the in-vehicle user experience that incorporates touch-screen controls similar to the most popular mobile devices.

The 2013 SRX's enhanced technology also contributes to safety, with Cadillac's new Driver Awareness and Driver Assist technology packages. Their features include Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Cadillac's Safety Alert Seat technology, Automatic Front and Rear Braking, Adaptive Cruise Control and more, using radar and other technologies to help avoid collisions.

Interior and exterior design updates further distinguish the 2013 SRX, while active noise cancelation technology helps provide a quieter driving experience. It goes on sale this fall.

"The 2013 SRX illustrates the Cadillac philosophy of never leaving well enough alone," said Don Butler, vice president of marketing for Cadillac. "The enhancements for the SRX - including CUE - are examples of how we're developing advanced technologies and pushing them consistently through the Cadillac portfolio. They are also some of the key elements of the all-new XTS luxury sedan and ATS compact sedan, which will expand the Cadillac portfolio this summer."

Road Trips - Be Prepared for Fun this Summer

Whether you're headed to the beach or the mountains, summer is the best time for road trips...provided all goes according to plan.  We've all heard (or told) stories of vacations gone awry because of an automotive problem. Don't let car troubles ruin your wonderful summer memories.  Here are a few simple tips to ensure safe travels.
Tips For a Good Road Trip
  • Check Your Car: Make sure your car is in good working order. Get a tune up, check your tires (and tire pressure), and make sure everything is in solid working condition. This is not a suggestion but an absolute REQUIREMENT. Make sure your car is road worthy before you leave home.
  • Clean Your Car: Clean out your car before the trip and remove any unnecessary items. It will give you more space for the things you "must" take with you.
  • Organize Your Paperwork: Check to make sure both your insurance and registration cards are in the car (and they are up-to-date).
  • Bring a Map: Buy a road atlas. I know, you don't need a map, but believe me, you'll wish you had one when you're lost. GPS is great but a map works even when you have no cell service.
  • Plan Ahead: Plan out stops along the way and try to drive realistic distances each day. Breaking up a long road trip by stopping often can help you keep your sanity. It also makes the trip all the more memorable.
  • Prepare For Emergencies: Always keep a pen, note pad, flashlight, and an emergency road kit in the car.
  • Food and Water: Bring snacks and water. You're sure to get hungry along the way.
  • Stay Alert, Stay Alive: If you start to feel tired, it's time to pull over and rest. If you have a co-pilot, ask the other person to drive if they are well rested.

Of course, there are many more tips to a great road trip, but these are the biggies. Just remember to have fun. Oh, and be sure to bring a camera. You'll thank yourself years down the road.

Emergency Road Kit

Carrying an emergency kit can get you out of a tough jam when stuck on the roadside. You can easily create one by putting together in a box the items listed below:

1.    One quart of Oil

2.    Two quarts of Premix Radiator Coolant

3.    Small Funnel

4.    Tire Pressure Gauge

5.    Pocket Knife (If you're MacGvver...Swiss Army Knife)

6.    Rags and Waterless Hand Cleaner

7.    Assortment of Combination Wrenches, Screwdrivers, and Pliers

8.    Flashlight / Spare Batteries for Flashlight

9.    Roadside Flares / Battery Operated Roadside Marker Lights.

10.  First Aid Kit

11.  Electrical Tape/Duct Tape

12.  Battery Jumper Cables

Of course, a cellular phone can be your most useful tool, but they don't always work. If possible, use a roadside emergency telephone call box. These call boxes are provided on some major highways in the US, but not all. Look for them on the right-hand shoulder with a sign indicating "Call Box" or "Emergency Call Box." Consult the instructions in the box; in most cases, calls are free and you are connected directly to the Highway Patrol. If there's no phone around and you aren't able to use a cellular phone, you may have to rely on your emergency kit, so make sure you take it with you. In our experience, when you're totally prepared, usually nothing goes wrong. Happy motoring!
