Things are really heating up at CCAM this month. The building gets ever nearer to completion and the orders have been placed for furnishings and equipment. The drywall is in and the space is really taking shape. Ongoing research continues to be a priority and we look forward to launching projects at the facility in September. See below for links to recent photos. Look forward to seeing new faces at CCAM in July as Project Leaders in Surface Engineering and Manufacturing Systems come onboard. We are currently seeking Directors of Economic and Workforce Development and a Project Team Lead in Manufacturing Systems in support of our research agenda (see right for details). Please stay tuned for more monthly updates from CCAM! |

Danville Community College and New College Institute in Martinsville are planning to ramp up capacity to train workers to meet demand for locally growing companies and to help attract advanced manufacturers to the region.
Both educational institutions are currently in the fundraising mode to add more space for programs, including labs with high-tech equipment. DCC would like to expand its Regional Center for Advanced Technology and Training to give its precision machining technology lab three times its current space on the main campus. more at GoDanRiver.com |

CCAM Research Update
|
CCAM has initiated additional Directed research at its member universities and now has deployed in excess of $1M toward Directed and Generic research projects. Organizing Members and Tier 1 Members participate in two types of research: Directed and Generic. Directed research is solely for the benefit of the member company and they own the IP. Generic research is shared by all members who have exclusive, royalty-free license to the IP. Generic research was initiated in 2011. Click here to learn more. |
