Hall County Parks and Leisure

July-August 2012

July is Park and Recreation Month!

When you think about Hall County Parks and Leisure, you may picture green grass, playgrounds, clean parks, and lined ball fields.  What many don't consider is the staff of people working hard to keep the parks maintained and the facilities working properly.  Park and Recreation Month is a great time to highlight this hardworking group of people!

The Hall County Parks and Leisure Maintenance Division currently employs 11 full-time employees.  This group oversees the year round upkeep and maintenance of 1,100+ acres of park land.  They work hard to maintain 33 ball fields, located at 12 different parks, throughout the county.  Some of their other day to day tasks include trash removal, painting, mowing, landscaping, and park repairs.

In addition to their regular list of responsibilities, the Maintenance Department is often seen working on special projects such as laying sod at a park, clearing sidewalks and parking lots on snowy days, getting a park or ball field in tip-top shape for a special event or working during an event to ensure that it runs smoothly.

So remember, the next time you visit one of our parks or facilities, there is a team of employees working hard behind the scenes to make your park experience a positive one.
