Farmers Markets opening for spring
Mark your calendars with some very important dates, the opening of our area farmers markets.
--The Spout Springs Library Farmers Market opened April 26. You can shop each Thursday from 4-7 p.m.
--The Hall County Farmers Market on Jesse Jewell Parkway at Exit 24 off Interstate I-985 will swing the gate open wide on Tuesdays (starting at 6 a.m.) and Saturdays (7 a.m.) beginning May 8.
--The Gainesville Market on the Square will be setting up under the trees in downtown Gainesville on Fridays from 2:30-6 p.m. starting on June 1. To get the best selection of produce, honey, bedding plants, etc., get there as early as possible.

Construction project updates
This month's episode of Hall County Connection will update viewers on construction progress at North Hall Park and the Hall County Government Center. Both projects are expected to wrap up around the end of the summer. Watch online.

Police impersonator arrested
The Hall County Sheriff's Office is investigating a Monroe man for impersonating a police officer and is asking the public to come forward if they have been stopped or approached by him. On April 27, Sheriff's Deputies stopped a black Dodge Charger on Browns Bridge Road after receiving a lookout for a possible police impersonator. The driver was arrested and charged with Impersonation of a Police Officer, Driving Under the Influence of Drugs and other charges. The Sheriff's Office is requesting that anyone who believes they may have had contact with this individual in a situation where he presented himself as a law enforcement official to contact the Criminal Investigations Division at 770-531-6879. Draft budget info available online
Hall County Government held a Budget Open House on May 1 to give the public an opportunity to learn about the draft budget for fiscal year 2013, which begins July 1. A presentation outlining the Administration's proposal and a public comment form are available online at www.hallcounty.org/budget. |
