Vote in March 6 special election

The March 6 Presidential Preference Primary will include a special election for Hall County voters regarding Sunday alcohol sales on unincorporated county property. City voters approved these measures Nov. 8, 2011, following a change in state law that allows cities and counties to sell on Sundays with voter approval.

Here are the questions:

1. Should Hall County be authorized to permit and regulate beer and wine package sales by retailers on Sundays?

2. Should Hall County be authorized to permit and regulate Sunday sales of liquor by the drink?

Early voting begins Feb. 13. Poll workers are needed. More voter info.

Courts hold parents accountable

Hall County Courts have found a better way to enforce child support payments: help non-paying parents get back on their feet. Hall County's Parental Accountabiliy Court, led by Judge Bonnie Chesser Oliver, gets parents out of jail, helps them get off drugs and find a job so they can support their children. And it's saved taxpayers $178,000 in jail costs during the first year of operation. Learn more about this progressive program on this month's episode of Hall County Connection on TV18.
