Run for the Angels 5K Event April 20, 2012 Orlando

Friday April 20, 2012 at 6:00 PM EDT

The Orlando Executive Airport, is having a 5K run/walk April 20th to benefit Angel Flight Southeast! We are limiting the 5K Run to the first 250 runners/walkers that want to sign up and support Angel Flight Southeast. A unique run on taxiways and a runway to support a great cause!

Trains, Planes & BBQ

The City of Tavares is considered the "America's Seaplane City" and has been holding an train ride, air show and BBQ contest all in one event since 2008. Angel Flight Southeast is the honored charity at this event, and is chosen as the exclusive vendor for water, soda and pizza (lots of kids don't want BBQ).

Our fifth year in a row, and another very successful one! Special thanks go out to the Insight Credit Union team and our dedicated volunteers below for making this a well-oiled machine, by selling tons of refreshments.

Orlando Corporate 5K Run

Thank you to Deltak-Innovation for their sponsorship of Angel Flight Southeast at the Corporate 5K last night. Deltak decided to choose Angel Flight as their charity of choice for the event, and created t-shirts to sell to their employees, as well as having a jeans day for their employees to wear jeans for $5.

Run for the Angels 5K run

Online Registration for our 1st Official "Run for the Angels 5K" is STILL AVAILABLE!!

Don't wait any longer! Sign up today! The online registration site has been created by Angel Flight Southeast to make it super easy to sign up. Sign up now as we only have 250 spots available this year. The cost is $15 until April 6th. If there are still spots available, the cost is $20 from the 7th of April to race day. Payments online will be by Credit Card or PayPal only. If you wish to write a check or pay cash, please contact me at rusty@showalter.com and I will work with you on payment.

Do not forget to download the Registration and Waiver forms! The forms are also available for download on the registration site. You will need them at the registration check-in table on the day of the race!

Remember, to run or walk in this event you will have to be 18 or older. Please do not register anyone under the age of 18, as they will be told they will not be able to participate. However, we are still looking for more volunteers of ALL ages, and will welcome those who want to help at the various areas around the course.

We already have a few vendors and sponsors for our 5K, and expect several more before race day. Fruit and water will be provided at the finish line, and O'Boys BBQ will be selling great food with a portion of the sales going to Angel Flight SE. So bring some extra $'s for a great sunset dinner at the airport!

PS. I am inviting anyone who just wants to come out and be a spectator at the event and enjoy our small static display of airplanes, fire trucks, a Sheriff Helicopter, and car. So in your news letters you are more than welcome to have people come out and have an O'Boys meal or look at the planes.

St.Pete/Tampa Wing Golf Tournament- only 1 month away!

We have a number of player and sponsors signed up, but we need more to make this a great day for everyone. We'll be at the Feather Sound Country Club in Clearwater, and we're serving lunch & dinner. During the day, expect to see a helicopter drop balls from the air as a raffle, hole-in-one contests, putting challenge, closest to the pin and a silent auction which includes jewelry, trips and more.

Hurricane Katrina study

We are looking to Angel Flight™ Southeast to assist in finding twenty (20) Angel Flight™ Southeast pilots who flew volunteer rescue or relief missions into New Orleans in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Interested study participants will be asked to participate in a one-on-one telephone interview with the researcher to discuss individual experiences regarding their activities in support of Hurricane Katrina relief or rescue activity in New Orleans. Another objective of the interview will address societal awareness of the public benefit flying industry and Angel Flight™ Southeast along with the prevailing shortage of volunteer pilots. Questions will be provided to participants in advance of the interview. The interviews are expected to be conducted in the May / June 2012 time period and each will last approximately 45 to 60 minutes in duration. In some instances, there may also be the possibility of a brief, follow-up conversation, but only for clarification purposes.

Identification of study participants is anonymous and confidential. As well, study participants will be asked to sign a release form indicating voluntary participation in the study, and acknowledging participant rights, including the right to withdraw from the study at any time.
