The Orlando Executive Airport, is having a 5K run/walk April 20th to benefit Angel Flight Southeast! We are limiting the 5K Run to the first 250 runners/walkers that want to sign up and support Angel Flight SE. ! A unique run on taxiways and a runway to support a great cause!

Thank you to all that helped out to make this event a big success! Amelia (our Piper Aztec float) is back at home, and we have our next event tomorrow in Tavares FL; Trains Planes, & BBQ. Thanks to PilotMall this year we had two booths to sign up dozens of pilots, hand out hundreds of brochures, take in donations, hand out bottles of water to cool down attendees and vendors and have a great time in Lakeland, FL.

Run for the Angels 5K run April 20

Online Registration for our 1st Official "Run for the Angels 5K" is STILL AVAILABLE!!

 

Don't wait any longer! Sign up today! The online registration site has been created by Angel Flight Southeast to make it super easy to sign up. Sign up now as we only have 250 spots available this year. The cost is $15 until April 8th. If there are still spots available, the cost is $20 from the 9th of April to race day.

 

Remember, to run or walk in this event you will have to be 18 or older. Please do not register anyone under the age of 18, as they will be told they will not be able to participate. However, we are still looking for more volunteers of ALL ages, and will welcome those who want to help at the various areas around the course.

We already have a few vendors and sponsors for our 5K, and expect several more before race day. Fruit and water will be provided at the finish line, and O'Boys BBQ will be selling great food with a portion of the sales going to Angel Flight SE. So bring some extra $'s for a great sunset dinner at the airport!

Lightspeed Aviation Foundation Partners with AOPA and EAA to Announce Finalists for 2012 Pilot's Choice Awards

 

Lakeland, FL. -- March 28, 2012  -- The Lightspeed Aviation Foundation has announced the names of 20 charities, selected from hundreds of nominees, which will benefit from grants to be awarded this year. The Foundation is launching its third year of partnering with the pilot community to identify worthy causes and to give pilots a voice in who they will support to make a lasting difference. Nearly $250,000 has been awarded in the first two years reaching well over 100,000 lives with services, training, and inspiration.
 
The announcement was made from the Nikon Media Center at the Sun 'n Fun International Fly-In and Expo in Lakeland, Florida. Charities selected are: Air Charity Network, Angel Flight East, Angel Flight Soars, AOPA Foundation, Aviation Career Enrichment, Bahamas Habitat, Build A Plane, Civil Air Patrol, EAA Chapter 44, EAA Chapter 106, Hope Air, JAARS, Liga International-The Flying Doctors of Mercy, Mission Aviation Fellowship, The Ninety-Nines, Planes of Fame AirMuseum, Recreational Aviation Foundation, Tomorrow's Aeronautical Museum, Wings of Hope and Youth Aviation Adventure.

All aviation enthusiasts will be invited to vote in the Pilot's Choice Awards online at LightspeedAviationFoundation.org. The top five charities, as chosen by the aviation community, will each receive a check for no less than $10,000.

Lightspeed Aviation customers will also have a special opportunity to participate whenthey register their Lightspeed headsets and vote in the Customer Choice Awards. The top five customer choice vote recipients will each receive award gifts of $5,000 each and every finalist will receive a grant of no less than $1,000.
