Congratulations to Award Winner Pilot Jim Williamson |
We received a letter informing us this week:
Greetings. I am pleased to send you this email in reference to Jim Williamson.
Jim is the Vice President, Services at SBA Communications Corporation (www.sbasite.com) and the recent recipient of the prestigious Steven E. Bernstein 2011 Humanitarian of the Year award. Mr. Bernstein is the Chairman of the Board of SBA Communications Corporation.
Receiving this award is considered a great honor at our company. In addition to being recognized for exemplary community service, a check in the amount of $10,000.00 is provided to your organization, on behalf of Jim Williamson, from the Steven E. Bernstein Charitable Foundation. I have attached a photo of Jim receiving his award along with our President and Chief Executive Officer, Jeffrey Stoops and our Vice President, Human Resources, Jo Carol Rutherford.
We are very proud of Jim and his accomplishments internally as well as in the community. I am sure these funds will be put to valuable use.
Thank you.
Lynne Hopkins
Director, Public Affairs
Outstanding work Jim! Thanks for all you do, and thanks for getting us this generous donation!

Change for a Purpose™ Suncoast Air Center- Venice, FL |
Facilitated by board member Steve King, Suncoast Air Center in Venice, Florida (KVNC) is running a new program to raise money for Angel FLight for the entire month of December called "Change for a Purpose™."
When pilots fuel up their airplanes at Suncoast Air Center this month, they are being offered the opportunity to donate to Angel Flight Southeast by "rounding up" their fuel bill by $50 or $100. Donors who add $50 will receive an Angel Flight Southeast hat, and donors who add $100 will receive and Angel Flight Southeast aviation bear. Stop in, grab some food at their restaurant, and fill up! If this program is as successful as we think it will be, we will be rolling it out to other FBOs in our service area. Thank you Steve King, Alex, Joanne and the rest of the Suncoast staff!

Subject: RE: This afternoon's mission from KORL-1J0
Kathy, Bob was a God-send. I was sitting in Showalter's waiting for arrival of the patient from Miami and getting sicker by the minute. I knew what a fix they would be in if I could not fly. Bob came back from a scenic flight and I was going to ask him to call you with the news. He immediately said he would take the flight.
Maybe in the next news letter that might make a good testimony to Angel Flight pilots. Boy, did he save the day.
Have a great day.
Steven W. High, Volunteer pilot
*Bob Showalter is part of the family that is very generous to us at Orlando Executive Airport

Angel Flight/Challenge Air |
We have begun planning for our fly-kids event in January, partnering with Challenge Air. Jim Steenson, a retired Air Traffic Controller and volunteer mission coordinator has volunteered to be the Air Boss for the event, and I will be the Chief Pilot. Thanks Jim!
This is a crazy, but fun day. We are looking for pilots to take kids and their families on a 15-minute flight, exposing them to aviation and empowering them by hopefully taking the controls of the aircraft, even though they may have a disability that keeps them from having a normal life on the ground. I have done a number of these as a pilot, and just like doing Angel Flight missions, it is very rewarding!
Please let us know if you can volunteer. We will have a morning and an afternoon shift on Saturday January 28 at the Fort Lauderdale Executive airport. Sign up at www.challengeair.org. or give me a call at (352) 326-0761 if you have any questions.
Sincerely, Steve Purello Angel Flight Southeast | |
