Rain Date- Palm Coast Bike Poker Run-This Sunday!
Since we got rained out a few weeks ago, we are re-running the bike poker run this Sunday October 23rd starting at the White Eagle Lounge. For more details, click here, or call Keith Evans at (386) 931-1800

To promote the event, Keith Evans also conducted an interview on a local station with one of our long-standing passengers, Jeb Bolivar. Great job Keith & Jeb!
Angel Flight Annual Golf Tourney
Nov 4 Leesburg, FL

We have 2 weeks left until we get ready for our tee times on November 4th for our annual golf tournament!

We have already surpassed last year in number of golfers and sponsors!

Our volunteers are working hard, and we have secured some terrific sponsors, such as Plaza Cadillac, Better Life Home Health, Dixon Golf and Niagara Water.

We would also like to thank our most recent supporters, Ken Jordan who has secured 3 teams for us, along with Steve King and Alan Hoffberg who purchased a pin sponsorship including a pin flag with their company log on it. There is still time to network for us to help fill out the field of golfers, or help contact other companies for sponsorships. You can help here

Thanks to all for all the help thus far.

Volunteers needed
Greetings!

Grant writers
Do you write well? This is an area we really need some help. Prior grant writing experience is not necessary! We've already prepared our main project plan (Passengers, Pilots & Participation), but now need to complete two more, and apply to a number of foundations that can help our organization reach its next level of goals.

Event volunteers
Please see the events scheduled in the left hand column. We need drivers, people to man our booths, help growing our wings and more!

For any of these positions, please call the office at (352) 326-0761

Another one of our volunteers in the news.....

We are proud to say that Judie Betz is part of our family.  She is as unique as her airplane.

"It's a pretty plane!" said one little girl who looked to be about 5 or 6. She was holding her father's hand, pulling him through the lines of aircraft, pointing out the ones she wanted to fly.

That's exactly the kind of reaction Betz wants her airplane to elicit.

judy betz"I have lots of women looking at the airplane and lots of young girls asking if they can fly something like this," she said. "We have to get more girls involved in aviation."

Betz, who earned her private ticket about 30 years ago, said she was initially discouraged from learning to fly.

Training recommendation from Bill Shivers
Bill Shivers, an Angel Flight pilot and past board member wanted our pilots to be aware of some training he's been getting. He says:
"Regarding the upset training I mentioned, I suggest that your visit  aps.training.com .  Loss of control in flight is by far the leading cause of fatal accidents, both commercial jets and general aviation.  In April of this year I completed the APS Professional Pilot Upset Recovery Training Program and in Sept. I completed three more days of upset recovery training at APS.  Training with a professional fighter pilot in an Extra 300 can't be compared to any other training that I have experienced in the past 40 years of flying.

I'm sending a video clip, separately,  that I use in an upset training presentation that I have presented.  The pilot is a current 6000 hr. professional pilot that was at APS for upset training and owns a personal Cessna 182 that he flies with his family and friends.  Scary to see how quick a skidding turn to final results in a disaster."

Bill is not affiliated with them, just wanted to share his positive experience. If you're interested in seeing the video clips, please email me at ceo@mercymail.org
