Request from ACA president

Lindy Kirkland

Teammates,

Just for starters, at AirVenture thisyear, AOPA met with the Air Care Alliance to discuss an upcoming project. The 3 year project has been funded by an individual and is going to help AOPA tell the good news story of General Aviation and provide those stories to national and regional market media outlets. Many of you have been involved in media projects like this before and I think you would agree it pays huge dividends in portraying aircraft owners as generous individuals with a passion for service rather than spoiled little rich kids with expensive toys.

To this end, AOPA really wants to involve the Public Benefit Flying community to the max extent possible in this effort. They are looking for human interest stories that play to a large audience. This request below is a bit more specific but they are asking for our assistance in helping find individual pilots who are regularly flying GA to help others and use the FR/GPS/WAAS systems to a full extent. If you have suggestions for someone who might be a good candidate to testify to Congress to that effect, please send along the info and a short note about the individual. I will work with AOPA to get as many of our good candidates out there as we can to help tell the story.
In addition to this first request, over the next several months, we will be attempting to funnel AOPA and the producers some great stories about Public Benefit Flying and its impact on our communities. I welcome all your input and suggestions in that regard and would much rather have too much material than not enough. I am asking for your help in finding these great stories and getting the word out.
Please email me with any suggestions you have for this particular effort below and also those of a more general nature that we can use for this project. They have specifically asked to do some ride-alongs if time and aircraft performance allows. Please let me know of availability you might have in that regard as well.

As always, don't hesitate to call if you have any questions. Thanks for what you are all doing!
