The Beginnings of Lab Results Standards
Like many of you, we were somewhat disappointed that the Meaningful Use Final Rule from CMS didn't address the issue of standards for lab results reporting. Some initial versions of the rule had limited references to LOINC, but those were removed in the final version. Despite how critical lab results are to clinical decisions, there was no focus on improvement in that area. The Final Rule only says that lab results be delivered as structured data; and even that is optional. And structured data has no precise definition in the rule. Read More |

Ignis Systems Highlights
We've been busy adding features you've requested and strengthening our team so we can support you better. Here are a few highlights.
- PDF lab reports go live. Last year several Centricity sites went live with PDF lab reports. These nicely formatted reports produced by the lab are downloaded automatically to your patient's EMR charts.
- Radiology solutions. Several Centricity sites are now ordering radiology studies using the same EMR-Link workflow used for their lab requisitions.

Technical Tips
There are times when EMR-Link isn't working as expected. It's usually something simple, such as a parameter changing or a file that was accidentally deleted. This section gives you some useful tips on solving those issues. Not receiving results? This is usually due to someone turning off your Windows scheduled tasks. Simply log into into EMR-Link and click the Results tab. If you see pending results, there is a likely problem with your Windows scheduled task. Read More Cannot send orders? This is usually caused by your internet being down, or the EMR-Link connector folder being deleted. It could also be caused because your EMR is looking for the EMR-Link connector. Read More EMR-Link Tools You're probably familiar with the OrdersBuilder and ResultsBuilder tools that are used during the implementation process, but we also provide a couple of other tools that you may find useful. Here's a quick overview of our tools. Read More Ignis Systems Release Notes
