Saludos From AAV!

We recently took some time to accompany our favourite new Honduran-Canadian student, Luz Mila, back to her home country of Honduras for her summer vacation. While we were down there we took some time to check in on a couple of our partner projects in the area. The sun was screaming, humidity through the roof and each afternoon we took the opportunity to cool off in the nearby jungle river....ahhhh!

We're now back in Canada, here's what you'll find in our Summer Issue...

HOLA Launch Party & Fundraiser - On Thursday July 7th we held our Launch Party & Fundraiser at Emma's Back Porch in Burlington, ON to celebrate our new non-profit division, HOLA. Our goal was to raise funds and create awareness. It was a greatly successful night with a fantastic turnout!

New Partnership in Honduras! - Inspiring positive change, Dan Osczepinski, is helping to rebuild the community of Sambo Creek, Honduras one brick and one child at a time!

Luz Mila Returns to Honduras - After graduating from Grade 8 in Canada at the end of June, Luz Mila returned home to Honduras to spend her summer vacation visiting family & friends.

LatinCouver's "Carnaval del Sol" - Latincouver.ca and the City of Vancouver brought the colourful Latin American heritage to the streets on June 26th. All Access Volunteers was there to celebrate with approximately 45,000 Vancouverites in what was truly an amazing event!

HOLAworld

On Thursday July 7th we gathered at Emma's Back Porch in Burlington, ON for "HOLA World" to celebrate the launch of our non-profit division, 'Health & Opportunities for Latin America', or, 'HOLA'.

The event was a great success! With 82 tickets sold, and our family & friends in attendance, we were able to raise over $2800 for our efforts in Latin America. We're so grateful for the wonderful support received from those in attendance and those who couldn't make it out, but still purchased tickets. You have all helped to initiate positive change in our world, THANK YOU!

A special thank you to Sean Heeley who provided acoustic tunes during dinner and to our friends Ramona who rocked us through the night! We'd also like to thank our friends Tonya & Amanda for their assistance throughout the event. Last, thank you to DDADD, Presencia Latina & SNAP Burlington Magazine for their support.

NEW Partnership in Sambo Creek, Honduras
DanBack in December, I was traveling on a bus in Honduras, when by chance I met 2 young American guys who had been living and volunteering their time and skills in the small Garifuna town of Sambo Creek, Honduras.

It was through this initial meeting and their inspirational stories that we decided to keep in contact. Upon returning to Honduras in July, I took some time to meet with Dan Osczepinski, Founder of "My Brother's Keeper International Missions" and see first-hand his efforts to raise the standard of living while promoting education in this wonderful community on Central America's Caribbean coast.

Currently, Dan and friends are spearheading a number of inspirational projects, all in an attempt to educate, improve health services and promote the arts to children living in this poverty stricken rural village.
Luz Mila Graduates & Returns Home to Honduras
LuzReturns On June 26th, Luz Mila Castro Velasquez, one of the first grads from the Jungle School in Honduras, completed Grade 8 at St. Matthews Elementary School in Hamilton, Canada.

Luz has returned to Honduras for her summer vacation to visit family & friends. She's picked up right where she left off and is helping teach the Grade 3 class at the Jungle School. Luz will continue to inspire the kids of La Herradura to study hard with her message that 'education is the key to their dreams'.

Vancouver's Shows Off It's Latin Colours
CarnavalDelSol Latincouver.ca and the City of Vancouver brought the colourful Latin American heritage to the streets on June 26th. All Access Volunteers was there to celebrate with approximately 45,000 Vancouverites in what was truly an amazing event!

This party in the street was an incredible opportunity to soak up all that Latin America has to offer, right in our own backyard! From the delicious variety of nationally represented food, to the dancing hips, to the 3on3 fútbol tournament in the streets, Carnaval del Sol had it all!

Thank you to everyone at Latincouver and all of their amazing volunteers for putting on such a wonderful display of Latin culture and allowing us to be a part of it.
