Saludos From AAV!

November... seriously?!?! Where did this past year go?

We've been so busy - time just seems to fly by... and here we are again at the beginning of the month with so much to share with our subscribers, I don't even know where to begin.

Brand New to AAV - "Alternative Spring Break 2011" programs. How does 2 weeks in Honduras or the Galapagos Islands sound? Programs are being offered to college & university students in Canada, and with only a couple months left in 2010... 2011 is right on our doorstep. What are you doing for Spring Break?

New Volunteer Opportunities in Belize - This partnership adds an amazing environmental & wildlife conservation project as well as a marine reserve project to AAV's portfolio.

From the Project Special - AAV volunteer Karen Fowler, currently in Argentina, shares her amazing experience at "La Casita", a day centre that helps approximately 50 children living in the surrounding slum area of Buenos Aires. Karen has been in country since September donating her time and heart to the project. Read about her experience.

If you like what we're doing, help us spread the word by taking a moment to send this email to friends and family via the "forward" button in the left column. We'd also love for you to "share us" on your favourite social media sites using the links provided.

Calling All Students...
Why Not Volunteer Abroad For Spring Break?
We are pleased to offer students two different programs as an "Alternative Spring Break". This year's programs will run in Honduras and the Galapagos Islands of Ecuador. Both programs are structured, encompassing a considerable amount of time PicoBonitoWaterfallvolunteering/assisting at the volunteer project(s) and coinciding with a number of fantastic adventure tours that highlight the incredibly rich diversity of both countries.

As a bonus on the Honduras trip, we are including 20 hours of Introductory Spanish lessons for the students during their first week in country!

Trips depart in February and March with tentative dates set between February 12 - March 11. In order to get this trip off the ground, we require a minimum of 6 students (max 12) and students must confirm their interest by submitting their application before December 1, 2010. Students will be notified of their acceptance into the program one week later, on December 8th. Prices start at $1295CDN for 2 weeks.

Lisa JSThis is a great opportunity for students to explore a different country and culture, while at the same time assist hands on with a fantastic project. We know that students from this program will have a positive experience and gain the confidence to volunteer abroad again in the future!

*We will be offering a similar "Alternative Spring Break" opportunity for students in the United States. Details to follow.
NEW! Conservation Opportunities in Belize
Belize offers something for everyone - from the white sand beach islands and spectacular 278 km long barrier reef (the second largest in the world), to the lush tropical rainforest, to the wonder and awe of the Ancient Maya civilization and the abundance of flora and fauna. Belize boasts amazing diving, snorkeling, boating, fishing, rafting, hiking, bird watching, wildlife reserves and opportunity for adventure.

BelizeJaguarWith all Belize has to offer, All Access Volunteers couldn't stay away! After an extensive selection process, we've found the perfect partner in Belize. This new relationship brings  two unique volunteer opportunities, one in the Maya Mountain range and one along the Belize Barrier Reef.

Wildlife Sanctuary - Consisting of 1,070 acres of tropical forest and savanna habitats, located in central Belize. The Sanctuary is situated adjacent to Monkey Bay National Park (2250 acres), and together they form a biological corridor link spanning the Sibun watershed. The 3300 acre protected area is home to a large number of exotic mammal species, including tapir, puma, jaguar, and crocodiles. There are a variety of volunteer & learning opportunities at this project.

BelizeMarineConsMarine Reserve - Located on a small five acre coral island perched on the Belize Barrier Reef. You can snorkel & dive the western hemisphere's largest barrier reef, or simply swim in the warm waters among dolphins, sharks, whale-sharks, and an array of reef fish. There are many different volunteer & learning opportunities at this project.

We are extremely excited about the opportunities in Belize, and are looking forward to sending volunteers and student groups as soon as possible!

For more information in regard to volunteer opportunities please contact us or visit the Belize page on our website. Project opportunities and respective details will be added to our site throughout the month.
From the Project - Karen Fowler, Argentina
Follow AAV volunteer, Karen Fowler, during her time in Argentina.

Karen has been kind enough to share parts of her daily journal, with the hope of helping people understand the daily life of being an international volunteer. She wants to encourage others to get involved. We will follow Karen over the next couple months as she continues on this journey.

"For years I have known that I wanted to help under privileged children around the world, but I didn't know where to start or when would be a good time. A professor of mine recommended looking into All Access Volunteers, and six weeks later I landed in Argentina, about to embark on the journey of a lifetime."

"At first, all I could think about were the children I would meet, not about all the other experiences I would have along the way. In addition to spending time with an amazing group of kids, I have built lifelong friendships, spent time in a rainforest touring Iguazu Falls, and experienced the culture of a foreign country."
