Hi Everyone,
Our Christmas in July retreat was held July 27, 28 and 29, 2012 at the Travel Lodge in Strathmore. There were 31 attendees and from the feedback I've had, everyone had a wonderful time. We are booked again for next year for July 25, 26, 27 & 28, 2013. The hotel did a great job for us. The banquet room that we used for sewing was very large and nicely decorated. The rooms were clean and the hot breakfast in the mornings was wonderful. We had snacks, lunch and dinner catered at the hotel and the food was boutiful and delicious. Water, cofee and tea were available all day long. Sunday morning, we walked across the parking lot to The Station to enjoy their Sunday morning brunch. There was way more food that we could possibly even try.
The attendees took turns carpooling to the shop for the sale that was put on just for them. Arlene and Lorraine were there to greet them and help them with their purchases. Thanks to Arlene, Lorraine and the shoppers.
Now that the retreat is over, I have put the kits that were being offered to the attendees on the website - you will see some in this newsletter. They are really fun and will be ready for Christmas if you start now.
I am working on a Batik Mystery Quilt that I hope to offer this fall. It is a georgeous pattern and uses strictly batik fabrics. Watch for it in future postings.

The centre panel depicting the 12 days of Christmas is a great centre piece for this lap quilt. The beautiful co-ordinating fabric is used to create borders, half square triangles and squares with rectangles to finish the quilt. Easy to make and fun to do.

Christmas Traditions

This outstanding line is Christmas Traditions Stonehenge from Northcott Fabrics. The centre panel is absolutely gorgeous in its subjects, graphics and colors. Friendship stars sourround the bordered panel and then framed by a red border that co-ordinates with the scrumptious red, green and gold sparkling border.

 Sentiments Quilt - 55" x 64"
This georgeous quilt is made from the line Sentiments from Moda. The rectangular centre blocks are cut from a panel and double bordered using co-ordinating fabrics. Motifs
There are 12 motifs in this series. They are from the book "Motifs" by Jeri Kelly. The book must be purchased to join the Motif BOM. The kits include the LASER CUT, FUSED fabrics required for each of the motifs. We fused our applique to a black background fabric, raw edged applique for the quilting, added binding, loops and buttons. We hang our motifs on our Ackfield Table Stand. (sold separately). Each block is $11.98 plus postage plus gst (Canadians Customers).

Floral Wall Hangings - 12" x 20"
These Laser Cut Fused kits include the pattern, the laser cut/fused flower pieces, the background, borders and binding. There are a variety to choose from - the colours used may differ slightly from the patterns. All batik fabrics are used in the kits so you know you are getting good fabric for raw edge applique. I raw edge appliqued my florals in the quilting process, then added the binding and hung them on my 12" x 14" Ackfield Table Stand with an extender on the stand.
