According to Quantum Physicists, if we identify with the larger underlying field of energy, then we can potentially guide our healing as well as our growth. Unfortunately, most of us are far too preoccupied with the details of our families and work, and far too entrained to a world-view of being separate from each other. However, what is available to each of us is to join a group, all intent on the same purpose of healing each other, and thus enter a "Group Field" together. In-so-doing we can align with the larger underlying field of energy to increase healing of everyone.
Who is making use of this "Group Field" to facilitate healing?
At the Casa de Dom Inacio in Brazil, an internationally recognized center for spiritual healing, people coming for healing are encouraged to sit in the "Corrente" room after meeting John of God, the healer. There are 100-300 people sitting silently on chairs in these large rooms. They sit eyes closed to facilitate an Alpha brain wave pattern, and feet and arms uncrossed, to better receive energy for their own healing and spiritual evolution.
The English translation of "Corrente" is "current" or "tide" but also means "metal chain". Thus, each person in the current room is becoming a link in a chain of consciousness. Linked together we create a powerful force that is dedicated to healing all who sit, and all who walk through the current room on their way to see John of God in consultation. This chain also provides a consistent energy to the healer, in this case, the medium, Joao, as he works with one person after the next, for hours at a time without break. While being a link to strengthen the energy, each of us is also receiving from the larger chain.
When you walk through the current room you can feel the strength of the group's energy field. It often moves people to tears-as it is such a concentration of the power of positive intention that it touches our inner soul.
This group energy field not only has more energy than a single person, but can be used to make energy manifest in more physical form. Consider the power of ceremony. A marriage or a baptism is sanctified by a group gathered together in the name of God. The ceremony seals the positive intentions of the group and those that are the center of focus-marriage partners, god-parents, the child in relationship to Christ, etc. Even in business and government, colleagues gather together to witness the signing of important contracts or legislation. These agreements have such strength, we call them "binding".
Cultures all across the globe have used a group field to both seal promises and enhance healing. Indigenous Amer-Indians gather together for Purification Ceremony, and Sun Dance Ceremony with similar intent: to empower the people's well-being and individual's spiritual evolution. In Slovenia, Master BioEnergy Therapist Zdenko Domancic's team sees 80 people in the morning and 80 in the afternoon. Patients waiting their turn sit in chairs in a circle witnessing the patient being treated by pairs of practitioners in the center of the circle. Similar to the Casa, they sit quietly with open hands on lap, in a receptive gesture. The healing power of the healers and the healings performed continue to uplift those waiting, just as their positive intentions feed into those directly receiving the healing.
With so much energy available to speed healing within the group field, it is curious to consider how we in the USA feel entitled to and have come to expect privacy when we meet with our health professionals. Our doctors divide their clinics into small rooms. We wait in such cubicles alone with our illness, often anxious, insistent on their undivided attention-if just for a few minutes. We have come to believe that the more undivided attention we get, the better it will be for our journey to health.
Clearly, there is a place for confidentiality but by insisting on privacy all the time are we missing something vitally important?
Research has revealed that 80% of all illness stems from stress. A symptom of stress is the feeling of not belonging in the web of life-being isolated and alone. Recently research revealed that one of the most effective therapies for heart disease is participating in a support group.
"It could also be that illness is isolation: a lack of connection with the collective health of the (one underlying energy) field and the community...In studies of longevity, those people who live longest are often not only those who believe in a higher spiritual being, but also those who have he strongest sense of belonging to a community."[i]
When do we experience a positive group field dedicated to healing in the USA and Europe? If we don't attend prayer circles in church, then we might find it in a large gathering when a noted spiritual teacher visits our city, for instance, Ammaji, the hugging saint, or John of God when he recreates a version of his Brazilian healing sanctuary at Omega Institute in New York. But, a positive 'group field' is otherwise rare for us.
The film, "Soul Masters: Dr. Sha and Dr. Guo" colorfully documents engaging group experiences in a hospital run by Dr. Guo, a medical doctor, in China. There are lots of smiles and camaraderie in the common spaces used for morning exercise program, evening dance program, sharing meals together, massage rooms with several people being worked on at individual tables at the same time. Dr. Guo, and his loving family (his wife and five daughters), all live on a wing of the hospital. "So", says Daughter #5, "the hospital is more like a big family get-together than a place for 100 sick people." That could be one reason so many have been cured of advanced stages of cancer there.
At the Casa de Dom Inacio, some visitors looking for healing experience spontaneous remission of cancer, and other serious illnesses. 95% of visitors have very strong spiritual experiences there. Many believe it is the love in the community (the intent of the group field) that is one of the strongest forces at work in the healing. The sense of brotherhood and fellowship is vast, and yet touches people very personally. Yes, over a bowl of soup we can share where we are from: Brazil, USA, Malta, Greece, Germany, France, Russia, Sweden, Canada, etc. But, when it comes down to our true origins, we are links in one chain, working together to help each other and that is both comforting and a source of immense strength and healing.
