Helping Organizations Thrive

February 2012 Edition
Welcome to my February 2012 email newsletter.

The mission of Jonathan Poisner Strategic Consulting is to help progressive organizations thrive.  I do that by assisting my clients with strategic planning, campaign planning, coalition building, fundraising, communications, and other organizational development challenges.

To keep people informed about my work, I set up this monthly e-newsletter.  If you want to unsubscribe, just look for the link at the bottom.   My January edition can be read in my archive.

What Works

Each edition of this newsletter contains a section I call "What Works."

Collectively, I believe these lessons are a very useful set of principles that any Executive Director can use to improve their organization's capacity to fulfill its mission.

This edition contains lesson 15 of Why Organizations Thrive.

What do I mean by this?

Recent Success Stories and New Clients

I'm completed my work assisting Texas LCV with the creation of a new strategic plan.

On January 28th, I led an all-day fundraising workshop for the Aloha Community Library Association board.  I will provide follow-up consulting as the board works to open this new library in summer 2012.

In late January, I led a fundraising and board governance workshop for the Oregon Chapter, Sierra Club.  I am continuing to work with the Chapter on fundraising and board governance issues.

In early February, I began facilitating a strategic planning process for the Alliance for a Sustainable Colorado.

Book Review

I recently penned a book review of Michael Wilkinson's Executive Guide to Facilitating Strategy.

Bottom line: the book provided this reader a few insights that are worth sharing for those who like me aim to help nonprofit organizations thrive.  Those hoping to manage or play a significant role in strategic planning would benefit from reading it.
