Answers to Many Frequently Asked Questions

Have you ever wondered, or been asked to respond to questions such as:

  • What is the incidence of permanent hearing loss in young children?
  • What part of the hearing system is screened by OAE equipment?
  • Can OAE screening be used when children have Pressure Equalization (PE) tubes?
  • What follow-up is needed for children who don't pass the OAE screening?

If so, you are not alone.  When talking with parents or when helping to train other screeners,
it is helpful to have succinct answers at hand.
In response to these and many other commonly asked questions, the ECHO Initiative has recently created a list of the most  frequently asked questions and answers that you can now view or print.
