Thinking of Joining New Hope?

Have you been thinking about joining New Hope but were not sure what is asked?  Pastor Greg will ask you the questions listed below and he'd be happy to discuss them with you ahead of time if you'd like.  Whether you join by standing up in front of the congregation or meet privately with Pastor Greg you will be warmly welcomed!

Reception into Church Membership

Do you in the presence of God and this congregation renew the solemn vow and promise made at your baptism, and truly and earnestly repent of your sin?
    I do.

Do you receive and profess the Christian faith as contained in the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments, confessing Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord?
    I do.

Do you promise, according to the grace given you, to keep God's holy will and commandments, and walk in the same all the days of your life as a faithful member of Christ's holy Church?
    I do.

If not baptized:
Do you desire to be baptized in this faith?
    I do.

(Christian Name), I baptize you in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.  Amen.

(Christian Name), the Holy Spirit work within you, that having been born through water and the Spirit you may be a faithful disciple of Jesus Christ.

Will you be loyal to the New Hope United Methodist Church, and uphold it by your prayers, your presence, your gifts, your service, and your witness?
    I will.

Slightly Bad Girls of the Bible
Sundays 8:30 a.m.

Sarah mistreated her maidservant. Hagar despised her mistress. Rebekah manipulated her son. Leah claimed her sister's husband. And Rachel envied her fertile sister.

Wait a minute. Aren't they the Good Girls of the Bible?  You bet. They're also decidedly human. Like the famous men in their lives; Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; these five women from Genesis often stubbed their toes along the rocky path of righteousness. They were far from evil, but hardly perfect; mostly good, yet slightly bad. In other words, these ancient sisters look a lot like us.  Author Liz Curtis Higgs tells these biblical stories with rollicking humor and deep insight.

Each lesson in this study, led by Julie Fricke, is stand alone so feel free to join as your schedule permits.
